Don't really have a favorite elk rifle cause I sell them once they have killed an elk. For the time being this is my latest favorite elk rifle. 340 Wby Alaskan, soon to be setting in a B&C Medalist.

Give me a yell when you decide to sell it. I should be on my feet financially by then...

Will do.

I've used a Mod 70 Featherweight Classic (push feed) in 30.06 Hornady 180LM) on cow elk, along with a .375 H&H (300 Sierra) and a MatchGrade Arms custom 338 win (185XLC). Loved them all.
On elk sized African Plains game, I've used a Mod 700 Classic in 35 Whelen Ackley Improved with both the older Barnes 250X and 200X. A MatchGrade Arms in .340w with 210XBT; Mod 700 & Mod 70 300 win with 180XBT. 375 H&H with 270 Failsafe factory ammo. Shot a huge aoudad ( small cow elk sized) with 338 RUM and Nosler 180 AccuBond.
Out of them all, my favorite is still my Whelen Improved. I've got loads with the Woodleigh 310SN @ 2400, and Nosler 250 PT @ 2750, and the newer 200 TTSX @ 2950. I'm pretty well covered, ha. If I can post it, only pic I have of the Whelen is with me and a friend with last years Eurasian hogs up on the UP. I used the Woodleigh...eat right up to the bullet hole!

Very nice picture Jim. That Whelen of yours is a thumper for sure.
