running those kinds of pressure, how long will the throat last? or have they invented an erosion resistant barrel steel that I'm not aware of?

My opinion only, throat erosion issues will be minimal. Why? The smaller powder charges being used, while at higher pressures, reduce the length of time and volume of gas that cause your throat to get torched . MOST throat erosion is an issue when you are shooting a hot barrel repeatedly of course....i.e. a .220 swift on a prairie dog hunt or some such. This won't happen with most people with this cartridge, and certainly not me. The old .264 WM which was rough on throats was not as rough as many thought....I have cleaned several that were fouled badly, but the throats were just fine. My opinion only, but time will tell.

UPDATE: Went to the Range today well armed with new (reformulated by Federal replacements which are the "on the run" loads now ) ammunition from Federal. They had promptly provided me with three boxes of ammunition after I spoke with them regarding my stuck case. Today I shot Two different loads: 1) The Federal 170 grain Terminal Ascent load in the plated reloadable cases, and 2) The 175 grain Fusion Tipped Federal Factory Load. Shot first unsuppressed. No issues at all regarding bolt lift or extraction with either load. My Weatherby 307 seems to much prefer the 175 grain fusion loads. Scope is 4.5-14x Leupold. Photos below. SD's were good, and velocities were very close to what is printed on the Federal Box. Slightly exceeding with one load, with my 20" barreled Weatherby. Bottom line for ME, I would not hesitate to hunt with the 175 grain Fusion load tomorrow. I am purchasing a MDT HNT26 chassis and drop my307 action (from the rifle used to shoot these groups) right in and hunt with it! I should have bought the HNT26 version initially, but the wood was so beautiful on the rifle I bought it as is.

I've been hearing so many good things about that fusion tipped round in multiple calibers. I'm very curious on it now.
