Pheasant season opens in oregon today! I have been seeing birds all over the place. Going to get a nice little two hour hunt in this morning with a buddy and my sweetheart red lab. Then its back to yard work. I'm trying to get a sprinkler system put in before elk season in a few weeks.

Think I am going to try to do a beer butt pheasant on the BBQ when I get one. It works great on chicken, why not a dith chicken?

Hope you are not in the valley supposed to rain hard there today. I love beer butt chicken, usually cook it in the oven, havent tried barbecue yet. Have a great hunt I am headed to Wyoming this morning!

No valley for me. I live in North Eastern Oregon. Weatherman says rain herre to but I don't care. I got the itch bad! Good luck in Wyoming Elkman.

Trust you enjoy success on the pheasants. It has been years since I hunted them as a young man in Kansas.

Good luck on your bird hunt.

Beer butt chicken is one of our favorites on the grill and should be great with pheasant.
Let us know how it turns out. Post a picture of that bird on the grill.

Well it was a great hunt! My dog worked great, and so did Nellie, my benelli Nova. Busted a young bird at 65 yards with a three inch four shot! Slight overkill I know, but I'm trying to use up a bunch or random shells I have. I have not bought shells in three years, and am slowly getting the pile worked down.

Ended the morning shooting 100%, and our group of three was five birds for seven shots. If it hadn't of been for a young pup in trianing we would have limited out in about a hour. All part of the fun.

Yes we went out this past Friday lots and lots of young birds.
My 2 little girls (labs) are not in the best shape but we took it real slow and had a very successful day. Lots of water retrieves as every slough is full of water. Lots of combines going in this province so we could not try a favourite spots, but great to be out.
To all my fellow Canucks may you have a great thanksgiving and enjoy this beautiful country.
HE MADE SOMETHING SPECIAL HERE IN CANADA :)

Blessings,
Dan
