First Time Ever!!

First time ever that I have taken bullets out of a box and they all weighed the exact same 165.2grs for 42 of the fifty in the box and the extreme spread was .4 WOW!!!! Now I don't know it they will shoot well or not, but they sure are off to a good start. I needed a 165gr load that was an all around load being able to open quickly without the front of the bullet fragmenting, creating a good mushroom for a good size meplat and a shank that would not break apart on bone while continuing in a strait line like the TBBC but being inherently more accurate.

This would allow me a load that would work on deer to elk and moose, without jockeying around with different bullets and loads as well as different impact zones, having to sight in each time I changed loads. The bullets I am trying and that weighed so phenomenally well, are 165gr SS North Fork bullets. I will be using the load data that North Fork sent me for my 300Win Mag and also the OAL they told me to use as my base to work from. Then I weighed the completed cartridges I loaded and the spread in cartridge weight was .5 - I will see next Monday morning how they shoot. Work has me tied up until then. Can't wait to see how they do. :):):)

Best of luck as you work up that load, Mike. I've heard nothing but good things about the previous iteration of North Fork bullets out of Glen Rock. Though I've heard less about the bullet since the move to Oregon, I count it a positive move to see them marketed by Midway. I'll really be looking forward to you load work, and hearing how they work on game.

Yes, if these bullets shoot well and do the stuff they are supposed to do on game, these would be a winner for you in Canada with the heavier game you are regularly confronted with. In test, these bullet flew straighter than the rest tested, including the TTSX and TSX.

I recall that those marketed out of Glen Rock had exceptional BCs. However, you are correct that it was the construction that really attracted me. They appear somewhat like a Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, which has performed well on big game for me over the years.

Yes, but they produce less pressure, and you can reach factory velocities with less powder and max loads this really fly faster than the TBBC and from what I have seen they are much more accurate. So, you get a bullet that has a good BC, opens like a Partition but won't loose all of the front when up close on game, and travels in a straight line like a Partition but with more mass, and the groves allow it to reach higher velocities for more energy and momentum for good terminal results. I am suppose to get 3300fps with these are right at it with a 24" barrel. But they are going to have to shoot good or I won't want them. :):):)

I've given serious consideration to trying the NF bullets! I look forward to your comments and observations, Mike. I'm looking at getting the sample packof 20 of the 200gr .338 bullets to try in my 338-06. I'd like to compare them to my 210gr PT's.

A few I know are getting up to a 100fps faster velocities using same charge of powder with other bullets. I will be trying the 225gr in my 358Win I am getting 2556fps with Accubonds and TAC powder, will be interesting to see the difference.

I have one box of 350gr NF's for the 45-70 I haven't tried out yet. They look like some great bullets. I can't imagine they will let you down. So many great bullets on the market today. I was glad to see Midway pickup NF. Scotty

Time is found in the desire to do, to know, to experience whatever intrigues. My devotion time with God, my home life, work, study, and hobby are prioritized to keep from wasting time. I have always been driven to love God, my family, my work and to enjoy my hobby which is shooting and hunting. I don't waste time on TV or laying around, time is to precious and once it is gone, it is gone. Time waits for no one, it excepts no excuses, and it moves on like a runaway freight train with only God to stop it. To waste time is to miss something, like what is the next thing I can find in God's word or what might be under the next rock or over the next ridge or a great group from the next load, or the trophy from the next hunt. I am a steward of my time with God, my wife, my children, my wonderful grand children and my friends and neighbors, leaving me time for my hobby. Don't worry FOTIS, when life is over, I will find something to do on the other side of life :):):)
