Have you ever wondered what something would be like, but you never quit had the opportunity to actually experience it. It is like a special hunting trip you dream about for years. It continually alludes you and then, all of a sudden, you have this UNPRECEDENTED OPPORTUNITY to make it a reality, but it is a fleeting moment at best and you must grab or it will fly away. No, I am not writing another article, but I am convinced that FOTIS and I really need some big time counseling, but in my professional opinion it will do neither of us any good. Yes, I have fallen off the wagon and FOTIS is my excuses so I don't need to immediately take responsibility for my actions.

You see, my life was quite, calm and pretty settled as I was approaching this coming hunting season with things already laid out, but taped out on money due to my grandson's schooling and my hunting trips. Now that is a good thing considering the fact that without money I could not be temped to buy any new rifles. WRONG!! I was temped!

I opened up and email from no other than FOTIS himself and he said I know you have expressed interest in this and I wanted to give you first shot. He named a price and I knew right then one of my dreams was fast taking off and leaving me behind. So I said, how about a trade  hoping against hope and to my surprise FOTIS said DEAL!

I will never forget a story I read by Craig Boddington years ago about a sheep hunt he went on and the the rifle and cartridge he used. I was hooked forever, but never able at the right time to run across one in good condition, when I had the money.

So, don't anybody scream at me, don't anybody shout at me, don't anybody nag me - and don't call me crazy, because we already know that is true. I traded my 358Win and a pistol to FOTIS for the following.

7mm08, 300Wby, 8mm Rem Mag, 338 Win mag

It is here and I have mounted my scope and here are some pictures. Really proud of my grandson and his suggestions for photos with the cartridge and rifle.

What can I say? He wanted it from day 1! I shot it yesterday, it shot well, challenge is over, why keep it?
Besides it is not like it is a 378 Bee   :!:

I wonder if there is any throat left after 10 rounds?   :p :p :p

Lord help us!

Man, I was looking forward to shooting it and maybe bringing it home with me!

Congtatulations Mike, you got yourself a real nice rifle and chambering.

Man, my head is spinning so fast that I can't imagine what might happen next. Congratulations, Mike (I think). Onward and upward, Fotis (I think).

...I blame Scotty...

...iffn he woulda bought a .325, Nosler woulda made some 220gr. Accubonds, & you wouldn't have had to sold the 8mm RM...

I may have to PM Dan and see if he wants to trade a few rifles with me  unless you want to trade one of your lever guns for a LH rifle

Never thought Mike would ever get rid of the 358 Win what's the world coming to? :)

You know, it was hard, but I have loaded, shot, hunted and live with the 358Win in the field for five years now and before I get sick, die or crippled for some reason, I wanted to experience the only major Mag caliber cartridge I have never owned. When you have been half way up a mountain and to have never gone to the top of that mountain, would always make me wonder what was on the other side. My love for the 358Win has not changed. And since it hasn't I have plans for a special build in a year or so, but don't have the green right now. I mean, who knows, Nosler could come out with a 358Win in a M48 TGR.

Sorry I am late guys but there sure seems like there has been some bartering and horse trading going on here
gerry I really don't have anything you would want, I would like to get a Remington action for a donor as I think that I am getting a 280 AI done for next fall
I am going to have the young Smith from here in Regina do the assembly as he has really got himself a good rep now, also Jace goes to the same church as I attend.

Blessings,
Dan

Son of a gun! That 8RM was pretty sweet.. I was actually squirreling away a little extra on the side for that rifle when Fotis put it up for sale! Between OU812 and Craig B, that 8RM is a sweet rig!

Ah well, but Mike, ditching the 358 Win. Not sure what to say! Seems like a great trade.. I was just going to push Fotis for a bullet test from the 8RM too.. Now it is on your shoulders Mike.

Very cool, seems like a great trade. I guess I will have to stick with the 325 now!

Wow that was quicker than I thought. I was going to give Fotis at least until the 5th ot 6th of July before it was gone. At least it went to a good home with someone who will care for it and do the bullet testing that needs to be done.

Fear not Scotty we can locate you your very own 8mm mag so Nosler will finally get to making a 220 Partition.
