Huge difference! And what works for slate may be crap for glass. It's like finding powder/bullet combo's in reloading

Osage is a denser/heavy wood and tends to have a deeper tone, it also works well when you size it down for a copper or aluminum call. Padauk is light weight wood, and it makes some loud calls with a mid-range tone. Both usually impart a ton of rasp. Really boils down to personal preference. I say generally because each cut of wood varies somewhat.
