So i just got a remington CDL 264 and i am having a hell of a time getting the 130 AB to shoot and im haveing a hard time getting the 107gr SMK to shoot tight also. This is the only rifle i cant get them to work in. its driving me nuts. I am using 67.5 grains of retumbo for the AB's and 62 grains of IMR 4831 for the SMK's. The gun is brand new and and the 125 partions shoot good. just bugs me that i cant get all the bullets i bought for it to work. need some help guys any info would be great

Try H-4831 or one of the 4350's. Also try a different primer with your Retumbo loads. I have turned 2 inch size groups into one hole groups just be change to a different primer.

On the other hand, if it shoots the Partitions well, what more do you need? Seriously, if it shoots them well, it's obviously an accurate rifle, just needs some tuning on the handloads. Vary the seating depth. Try different powder & primer combos.

Cool cartridge in a nice package. I like those CDL's.

did you work up to those powder charges, or just try the one charge weight? If you did this, I highly recommend you shoot a full range of powder charges before changing any components.

your rifle may be telling you something about what bullets it likes/dislikes.

don't get caught up trying to force-feed it what you like.

I had problems with mine last year I was finally able to trace it down to the worst batch of brass I have ever seen (from Winchester). The bullet run out was terrible and I was left with about 25 % good cases. Funny thing is my Winchester 30-06 brass is quite good. If you have access to a tool to measure bullet run out that might be your answer. The Nosler 264 WM brass I bought is much better with only a couple of culls. Now I got to find something to do with about 200 bad WW brass. :(

i was thinking about trying out the rl 25 any one have any suggestions on some recipes for that. and i have workedup to those loads and none of them worked all that great. and what primers do you figure i should try ive been using the rem 9 1/2.

gerry, have you tried sizing it?

Yes I have tried sizing them doesn't help even once fired brass shows awful bullet run out. The Nosler brass is good new or once fired. I'm sticking with the Nosler brass from now on I'm quite happy with it.

My 264WM does quite well with Retumbo with 129 and 130 gr bullets the 140 gr Partitions not quite as good. Hodgdon has data for it and lots of other powders on their website. Plan on trying Ramshot Magnum with the 140's next.

Sorry to hear you are still getting run out with the WW brass. I was just trying to think of a solution to try short of neck turning. If you have no use for that brass, I'd be happy to buy or trade you something for them as I could neck them up to 7mm. PM me if interested.

I had the same problem I tried, R19, R22, 7828 and did not get good accuracy.

Once I started using Ramshot Magnum powder w/ 130ab and 140 parts my groups got smaller. My gun does not like 120 bt's, or 129 hornady or 139 prvi partizan bullets. The longer 130 and 140 grn bullets shoot better in my 700 cdl.

+1 on the Nosler brass, it is a very uniform product. My savage 111 with a pacnor barrel really likes Surplus powder, Nosler brass, 140 Berger VLD's, 140 Sierra MatchKings and the 130grn AccuBond test loads are waiting for a range trip. I had a Winchester Westerner m70 that loved 120 grain Balistic Tips and 130 AccuBonds over Retumbo. It prefered them seated to max mag length.

JT.

Just had the throat lengthened on my 700cdl, I need to go and try it out, now that I don't have to seat the bullets so deeply.
