My 12 year old son Steph and I went to the range yesterday. I needed to shoot my new toys and work up a load for his Savage 270 Win rifle. I put him in for tags this year so he will need the loads.
Anyway as luck would have it my digital camera died on me so I had to use my cell phone. I apologize for the bad quality.

First up was my new Savage 114 American classic in 7mm Rem Mag.

She took to the 160 AccuBond and RL 22 very nicely!

66 gr and 3050 fps first load tried! .45"!!!

Then came the handguns.

Stephans first real handgun session.

He shot (expertly may I add)
357 mag full 125 gr Nosler at 1470 fps
44mag 300 gr Nosler at 1215 fps
10mm 135 Nosler at 1500 fps
and 454 casull
300 grain xtp at 1400 FPS---he killed a whole box of these!

Here he is unleashing the 454 fury!

God ! I love this boy! (and Savages also!)

PS next week is E-tip week!!! Weather providing!

Nice shooting Pop.
Also great job in getting your kids out to the range.
We all need to take the young ones out and get them interested in shooting sports. Our future depends on it.

I take them out every chance I get!

That young fella probably cut his teeth on an empty rifle case. Good to see the two of you out there together!! Looks like hes got a good teacher. NICE groups, glad the new shooters are workin out. Keep us posted. CL

Hey Pop,

What rifle rest are you using?

By the way, those Savage rifles are the cat's meow!! Excellent shooting by you and your son!!

Fotis,

Great father/son day! Nice shooting too.

Great father and son bonding day
Plus nice rifles that shoot good.
Thats a when it all comes together kind of day.

Hey POP, Nice job indeed! May I make a suggestion without sounding bossy or holier than thou. Next time you take your son out shootin, how about a nice pair of shooting glasses.

and a sharpshooter.

POP,

My sympathies for your range session.........

It is a shame to only get to shoot one load per rifle, bullet, powder, brass, and primer combination. What a bummer!!

Congrats on the awesome success on the loads.....experience does count for bit, huh???

Most of all, congrats on a day well spent with Steph. I will look forward to seeing him and that .270 with some critters this fall!!

Bob

Yup he is getting 2 goats......

Well you certainly arent "wasting" any components doing load work up! 3050 fps with a start load in a 7mm Mag! woooooo

Yup, I admit...I cheated. I went to my standby load for that combo. It has worked every single time in factory rifles.

It can be chancy though ,but I felt comfortable doing this under specific circumstances.

FWIW. I was/will always be the only shooter of these loads, nor will I ever recommend any load like this to anyone.....
