"Green Boxes"

I use the heck out of them on Varmints and targets. Real accurate stuff.

All true.

I made an interesting discovery when I emailed Sierra asking for a .338 200 gr HPBT Game King. Rich M told me that the 215 gr Game King has a 250 gr jacket that is simply hacked off short, translating into an extremely tough customer. A lot of people don't know this (including me before being enlightened!) and it seems to me from the conversations I've seen online and in person that this projectile is the rodney dangerfield of the .338 cal sandwhiched in between the fantastic 210 NPT & the numerous 225s.

Expanding our horizons, one black/green/red/yellow box at a time :) !

The 225gr 35 cal bullet is one tough bullet also and extremely accurate, and it has exited everything I have hit so far out of my 358Win.

So Sierra says their .308 HPBT bullet is one of their toughest bullets in that caliber? Interesting.

I agree it is. Even though the HP fools most potential users.

I wonder why it hangs people up?

People tend to imagine it is a Match bullet, because it looks identical to the Match bullets. You can tell a book by its cover, nor a bullet by its external features.

That is true. Couple that with the hunters who choose Matchking bullets for hunting..................

I think one of the main reasons it is a hang up is that we have been taught all our lives that Hollow Point Bullets are very frangible and will open up violently causing the rest of the bullet to come apart quickly or expand so much that it can not penetrate deeply. You see this in hollow point pistol bullets and varmint bullets much less the match bullets you both mentioned and people assume these same qualities with any hollow point and can't image a HP opening up quickly and the rest of the bullet surviving enough to penetrate and do the job like or better than SP designs. But Mike already mention, don't let the externals fool you, this HP is not like the rest, it is in a class all its own. It is the closest I have ever seen a cup core bullet at in some ways like a bonded bullet. It is the closest thing to an AccuBond without actually being a bonded bullet. On deer out of my 300 mags I have always had exits. Even with my 30-06 I have always had exits when 125yds or less.

That 165 308cal and the 160gr 7mm bullets are on my to try list for sure. Also, the 140gr 277 bullet too. Those are the ones I would like to try. Scotty
