H4350 and 115s 25-06

IMR 4350 is listed in the Nosler data as the most accurate for the 115s. I have H4350 on hand and was thinking it would be better since it's not supposed to be temp sensitive. Does anyone have a load for H4350 and the 115s? I tried Retumbo but my group opened up at 57.5. I'm looking to shoot both the BTs and Partitions. Thanks

Bob, I would use IMR data for the H4350 data and match speeds. They are different, but if you start low and work up with either, most of their data is interchangeable.

I sure have and it’s ridiculous. Very easy so far to find accurate loads and excellent speed.

Thanks guys! Man why are Alliant's load data numbers on their website so low? They give a MAX of 51.3 for the 120 Partition.

The problem getting higher velocity with the slower burning powders is the 22.5 barrel. You can get respectable velocity but do loose out what a 24 to 26" will do. I have shot the 25-06 for a lot of years and it is my opinion that it needs at least a 26" barrel. But then again with my experience either personally or by close friends any of the 25 cals. from 250 Savage up to 257 STW is a stone cold deer size game killer with most any 100 to 120 gr bullet with impact velocity above 2000 fps. I am running 117 Sierra Pro Hunter 3000 fps with 49 grs IMR or AA 4350, Rem case, CCI 250 primer out of a 26" barrel. It shoots 1/3 MOA. I have killed a train load of deer with this load over the past 30 years. I could probably get more velocity and maybe the same accuracy with the newer powders but I have always been from the "If it ain't broke don't try to fix it" school of thought. I have killed every deer I have ever shot at from on top of me to a little over 500 yards which is my self imposed max yardage I will shoot a deer with my 25-06 because of impact velocity getting too low to expand the bullet like it should except one. That one miss was because I hit a limb sticking up off of a downed tree that I could not see through the scope while the deer was standing out in a clear cut at about 400 yards. The bullet still came close enough to him that he bolted and got out of Dodge. If I will be hunting in a place where I would reasonably think that I would need to take a shot over 500 yards I would take my 264 Win mag.

Love the 25-06 cartridge!

Whenever 1Shot mentions his gazillion deer kills with his rifle, I just grin. He's got so much experience with the cartridge on game!

I haven't deviated from "my" load of Retumbo and the 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips in quite a few years now. I just keep the 6x sighted-in at 300 yards and go hunt.

Yesterday at the range I popped the 25-06 down on my shooting mat, put the crosshairs on the 12" 300 yard gong, pressed and "clang" - yup, once again it's ready to go. So easy to shoot well. Confidence in that rifle is HIGH!

Re the 4350, I used that in the 25-06, but only with 100 gr bullets. It did very well with them, at 3300+ fps and excellent accuracy. I just tend to use the slower burning Retumbo load with the 115's. It just works really well for me, and my rifle. That's a 24" Remington barrel too. I am NOT looking forward to the day when that barrel needs to be replaced!

For the first time in 30 some years I will not even be taking my 25-06 with me on my yearly 3 week deer huntin trip. I will be taking two ARs that I built in 6.5 Grendel to play with and my Contender pistol 14" barreled 30-30AI because where I am hunting now on the farm most of my shots will be inside 200 yards. If the need comes for a change of plans or a friend invites me to go to his place which has HUGE soy bean fields I am taking my 264 Win. mag. I still love to deer hunt and still get the buzz from the kill but I have killed so many deer that it is getting to be about like going down to the grocery store and picking up some meat. Playing with the 6.5 Grendel in ARs for two reasons. One is I like to give new calibers a try and Two just to PO the liberals by using an AR. LOL
