I had another accident and have a new ruger in 25-06. I was looking for a starting point, I already bought some 85gr bt's but will buy others when i get back to the store. Thanks for any ideas and suggestions.

For a deer hunting load it is hard beat one of these.
52 grs H4831, Rem case, CCI-BR2 primer, 117 Sierra, or 49 grs IMR 4350, CCI 250 primer, Rem case, 117 Sierra. I have killed a few HUNDRED deer with these loads out to a little over 500 yards and 99 % of them drop in their tracks. With the 85 to 100 gr bullets I have found that IMR 4350 really does a good job.

+1 49.0 grs. of IMR 4350 and 120 gr. Partitions works very well in my wife's 25-06.

100 gr bt and rl22. Start at 52 gr and work up.

Good for 3350 fps , deadly deer antelope and varmint combo.

Congratulations on your new 25-06, it is an awesome round.
Consider using the 100 gr BT for both varmints/predators and deer/antelope. If deer are up close, switch to the 100 gr PT.
Another great bullet is the 110 gr AB.

What a great accident. I gotta try that one on mama.

75gr. Sierra HP Varminteer/ 50.5gr. IMR-4064 (max load)

85gr. NBT/ 54.5gr. RL-17 (max load)

90gr. Sierra BlitzKing/ 45.5-53.7grs. IMR-4350 (MV 3500fps/ BC 0.393 makes this an excellent LR chuck/ coyote load)

120gr. Sierra HPBT GameKing/ 50.5gr RL-22 (max load)

100 gr ballistic tips and a stiff charge of rl17 you can see close to 3500 fps and better trajectory than the 85 s

I think the 85 grain BT has a varmint skin on it (thin), so it will not make the best deer hunting bullet. I really like R22 and the 110 AB for deer and speed goats. I just sold my 25-06 Tikka that would shoot under an inch with that combo at 200 yards.

BTW...if you haven't bought a die for it and want one, send me a PM. I have a good Redding set that I may sell.

thanks for the offer 257 ackley but i bought those at the same time and i did go with the redding also.

I've spent a lot of time with the .25-06 over the years.... and if I had to choose one powder and one bullet weight.... it'd be IMR 7828 and 100 grainers... RE22 would run a close second.
