I have been running 55.9 grains imr 4831 with hundred grain nosler solid base bullets(precursor to the ballistic tip I believe) in my 25-06 for a velocity of 3418. Remington cases, cci mag primers, 3.242 overall length. Several old reloading books nosler 2,3 as well as several speer books have suggested that my pressures might not be that extreme.

I tried this load this week with a new lot of powder and got pressure signs at lower velocity so I messed with the length and the pressure signs went away and the velocity came back to where it was.

I would really like to keep loading this combo as it seems to be really accurate at .4-.6 all day and it kills things incredibly dead.

Could you quick load my old combo if quick load has that old bullet in it. If not could you quick load the hundred grain ballistic tip in it's place with a length of 3.242.

thanks
drew

Ouch I guess the lack of cratered primers, short case life, and a sticky bolt doesn't necessarily mean that my pressures aren't absurd. Oh well I guess 3300 and half inch accuracy isn't too bad.

One of the better blanket statements of all time right there... reckon 3300 + 1/2" accuracy is a darn good combo... regardless of caliber....

It is only a prediction fellas not a panacea.
