Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct area so sorry if I did. Have any of you guys had problems with Hornady Superformnce ammo or heard of problems with it? I almost threw a X Bolt in 7mm-08 in the trash because of this stuff. At 100yrds this ammo would shoot 12" groups. It used 139gr SST and 139gr GMX with the same results. After scratching my head checking rings and bases I put a few rounds on the scale. Rounds had as much as 8gr difference in weight. I bought a box of 140gr Core Lokts and 3/4" groups all day at 100yrds. Then my buddy purchased box for his Tikka T3 in .270 and we had a hell a time getting the case back out once fired. After third round we stopped. Primers where also backing out. Anyone hear of such issues?

My 7mm-08 had shotgun groups also. I pulled the heads and used the brass. Not buyin that again.

I've heard bad things about it as well. I've never used it, but assume that Hornady spent all their time looking to get the most velocity without regard for accuracy.

Tried the 6.5 Creedmoor 129 gr SST Superformance and was not impressed with the accuracy.
Not nearly as bad as yours but I won't buy it again.

We thought it was my wife's savage edge in 7mm-08 so we upgraded the rifle. Got the same 4" groups at 100 yards with the new rifle. So, I cooked up some 140ab's with some IMR4350 and both rifles are now 1" off a tree rest.

So, yeah, in my opinion, Superformance = Supersucky.

That makes me feel better seeing that others have had similar issues. I have never seen anything perform so poorly. I based my purchase from the results I have had with their Custom line. For the $60 bucks I wasted I should have just bought some Partitions and brass.

Nasty, thanks for the heads up, thought Hornady would be better than that.

I have a BLR in .308. When I bought it, I also bought six boxes of the 150 gr Hornady SST load. Standard, not superformance. The thing groups 1.25. Not bad for a lever. I was at a gun show and saw some 150gr SST but in the superformance. Was a very resonable price so I bought a box to try. Wow. Went from groups to patterns. Scared me enough to think my scope was loose or barrel was bent or corroded, or something. A few of the regular SSTs down range confirmed that my rifle didn't like superformance.

I have shot the .222 and the .223 Superformance ammo and it shot great out of multiple guns and velocity was what they advertised. FWIW

The 7mm-08 superperformance with SST loads wasn't very good for me either. 2-3" groups.

It's a shame, because hornady's non-superperformance ammo has always shot extremely well for me. I hope this isn't an 'all in' and we lose the other lines.

I recently got a 223 Contender rifle and wanted to pick a couple different kind of factory loads and hope for the best, as I really wanted to use it for coyote hunting with little effort. I shot groups with Winchester supreme CT 55 silver ballistic tips, Hornady custom 55 V-max, and Hornady 53 V-max Superperformance. Of the the three, the Superperformance 53 V-max shoots the best at 3/4" groups. Works for me!

Just had a friend experience it yesterday in his .270. Shot at least a 3 to 4 inch group, very inconsistant. Then he shot some cheap Fedaral and wala, 3/4 or less inch group.

my two cents of good old cash on this matter....

this stuff is the most atmospheric pressure sensitive stuff I've ever used. One day it will shoot 1" groups....the next day when the weather is different...the group opens way up.

this stuff works great in some things and others it works but is in no way the best. Not even close.
Some things the speed is certainly humming along but in other examples the speed is no better than the normal 760 or 4350 etc etc.
They post these attractive velocity numbers and people feel they are now getting magnum numbers from their regular non magnum cartridge. In some cases this stuff does really work. But in MOST cases you wind up getting loads that nobody would use...even the indians from 200 hundred years ago would think twice about it.

The best load i ever used for the 7-08 and i had a few of them is imr 4350 with 140 gr ballistic tips.

That was the best combo of speed and accuracy and was plenty lethal!

Concurred, make it 46 grains for me be it 140 bt or ab.
