How many loaded 300 RUM cartridges should a Remington 700 with hinged floor plate hold? I just got to playing with it and can only get two in the magazine and third would be in the tube. Does that sound right? I'm having to seat these 200 grain accubonds deep too, just to get them to fit in the magazine.

That sounds about right - both on the mag capacity and the COL constraints.

My M700 LSS 338 RUM holds 3 in the belly and 1 in the pipe.

Ditto with my 300 RUM's in AWR/LSS/CDL/FS etc.....

That depends on how he and you folks above are loading it.

Is he loading them all from the top and then closing the bolt? Are you folks loading a round and then turning the rifle over, opening the floor plate and loading the magazine well? Because that makes a difference.

Just checked my rifle database.

I have owned 12 300 RUMS.

The reason I ask is I may have to revisit my Overal length I'm starting to think I may be to long now. I'm currently seating the 200 ABs at 3.680, I may drop that now.
Thanks for the help.

Corey

Same load as yours in my 700 CDL was 3.670"

Actually, I'm more impressed that you have a database for your rifles!

People actually load their rifles that way?

Sure some people do. It isn't much different than extracting one round and opening the floor plate letting the other rounds drop into your hand

Since 1995 (When I got back from living in Europe)

I am up to 262 .......

Corey

My STW and 300 Bees all load at 3. 650 to function in the magazine. My 300 b is 3.9 or so to the lands.
