For those of you wondering where, I have dropped off to again. I am archery hunting in Western Washington, (the Wet Side) not far from the coast. Chasing the elusive Elk (what else?) in the dense forests of the NW. The GPS for the camp site says 22 feet elevation, and one of the flat areas I frequent floods twice daily because of the tide. I am camped about 30 miles inland. Its rained about 3 inches + since I have been here. (sometime since the first week of the month). I have seen 20 plus elk, including two up close but no shot opportunity.
I am back in civilization again because it clamming time, but they are night tides. Tonight we had sideways rain, with gusts to 15 or so, and low tide at 1900. A very slow night, no clams in the basket. Moderate rain is in the forecast for the next few days, so I am hanging at the beach. As soon as the weather moderates I will be back in the woods.

I used to do that hunt myself but am not sure that I can deal with all the rain over there?

Sounds like fun, Bill. Hey, I'm pulling for you to stick an elk.

Elk hunting in the rain. Now thats not much fun. And if you're camping .... well, the whole camp is soaked and there ain't nothing like crawlin' into a wet sleeping-bag (yuk)!

I am using the new improved Accumuzzie on elk. They are a proven performer on deer but the juries still out on elk. We will see, I substituted this hunt for the eastern Idaho hunt. The one where it gets 20 below every other year. When the rain and wind gets to bad here I crawl into the camper and sulk. Warm and dry there, but I am getting tired of my Eastman magazine reruns!

Thank you all, I will be headed out in a day or so, the forecast is for drying and showers instead of constant rain. I did some research on the weather it may be interesting for some. Year to date, the area where I am hunting has had 108 inches of rain. It has rained over 7 inches since I have been here. The highest temperature during my hunt so far has been 62 the lowest, 29.

Temperatures that low and wet can certainly make for unpleasant conditions, Bill. You're doing well. Stick an arrow in a fine elk.

Welcome to the Wet side! Can`t say I enjoy it on the soggy side myself, stuck here for a few more years. Good luck with the clamming and the elk hunting.

Well I have developed a chest cold. Coughing and sneezing, which are not conducive to sitting on a stand, so I have called an end to my 2012 hunt schedule. No Washington elk for me this year. (I have never killed one in Washington) I had a great year and spent some real quality time with some great friends. Managed to fill a couple of tags, besides a great season all and all. I started hunting on the first day of October and finished yesterday. Pretty much nonstop for 2 months.

Remember all, the nonresident application period in Wyoming opens in three weeks. Merry christmas, or merry holidays which ever you prefer.

Sorry to hear about the cold, Bill. That is miserable. However, time afield and especially when you've been able to share it with good friends, compensates greatly for a few unfilled tags. Get well, and have a merry and blessed Christmas.

Mike
You are right, it has been a great year and a great season, I feel blessed daily in many ways. The unfilled tags are minor, great memories go with them also.

I hope that you feel better Bill, the weather around here has been terriblr for the last week. I have been trying to get some 9.3x74R loaded and to the range but it been raining like crazy ak week,!
