What are the spec's on the 260 load?

120 grain Sierra Game King, 42.0 grains IMR 4064, 3017 fps

We've agreed to restrict Noah's shots to 100 yards.

We saw two moose this morning (cow and a calf) and numerous whitetail and mule deer. We'll make a brief hunt again this evening, despite the heat.

Good luck in the field today Mike. Hope it's an early bull, great shot, and road close!

Amen! For sure!

Doc I' m not sure if its cause your in a game rich environment, or what but wow those are some pretty good opening days for rifle hunting.. Nothing here unless you draw a stinkylope or go for fall bear until November. That's why I'm back to archery , goose hunts in the morning bowhunt all afternoon. Lol.
Once again hoping you guys the best of luck.

Hi DrMike, I do not think you made it this morning  but I was wondering how last night went?

Blessings,
Dan

Yesterday was an intense day of ministry, as is today. Friday we saw moose, elk, whitetail and mule deer. However, none that we could shoot. Besides that, most were seen in the evening and the temp was still 30 C, which would have made getting the meat out quite the challenge. We were out more to say we had been out than to shoot something.

Since I couldn't get out hunting today, I consoled myself at the loading bench:

.30-06
50 165 gr Nosler Partitions for the Model of 1917 rifle
50 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips for the Rem 700

.25-06
50 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips for the Rem 700

All three loads are field & range proven for us. Nothing new here, just good, solid loads. That .25-06 load has proven remarkably accurate from a slender, factory Remington barrel. The .30 cal rifles use H4350 and the .25-06 load uses Retumbo.

I think we're set for the season. I'm still working on the last 20, 260 gr .375's I've got loaded. For Da Bear. If I can find him soon....

And good, solid loads are what are required. Sounds as if you are about set, Guy.

Thanks, but I seem to be making a rather disorganized effort at bear hunting this year... Still, it will be nice to be in the hills with a rifle & tag soon. Tomorrow morning is the plan!

Guy, I hope that the plan for tomorrow morning falls into place .
Shoot straight, have Fun & be Safe!!

Blessings,
Dan
