That'll work fine too Dan. My old palomino camper has a large cooler. The previous owner cut a piece of foam to fit the bottom. The combination of good lid and extra foam makes that cooler hold ice far better than it should. The nice part about your plan is that you'll end up with a custom cooler that is exactly the size you need with the features you need.
