Was just watching a video of a guy demonstrating his Ishapore Enfield 7.62x51 caliber rifle. He raises a question that I thought had merit.

I was under the impression that the Enfields all had a two-position safety. Located on the left rear of the reciever, when it is all the way back its on safe, you can't open the bolt or fire the weapon. All of the way forward and you can do both.

In this video, he appears to have a half way notch that permits him to fire the weapon but not cycle the bolt. Do the Ishapore's have a 3 position? If so this one must be busted because it should do the reverse, NOT fire but allow him to cycle the bolt.

Here check it out...

His is probably warn. I have one that when you move it from safe to fire position it will let the hammer drop. It will stay cocked with the safe in the fire position if you just leave it in the fire position and work the bolt. I just shoot it at the range where I don't need a safety. Remember a safety is a mechanical device that may fail so always keep you muzzle in a safe direction is the motto I have always lived by.
My Isapore does shoot very well. If you get one don't try to hot rod it with 308 Win loads stay in the 7.62X51 NATO pressure range and you will be fine.
