It's going to be a very bad year for the deer ....

Here in the U.P it's been a very hard winter with the cold temps and snow. The last time we had something like this was back in the early 90's and we lost probably half the deer in the U.P The following few years guys could hunt the whole season and never see a deer. Add now the very high predator numbers and the stinking wolves.....Don't come to the U.P to hunt unless it's just to look at nice scenery.

And some think hunting is "inhumane" ...there is no easy way to die in nature.

I was thinking the same thing here in the lower peninsula.
The snow is 4 feet deep on the ground. I haven't seen a deer or a track in weeks. One of my patients noted Tuesday that the usual areas where the deer yard up are just empty right now.

As if the EHD wasn't enough...
