Got to pick up my first custom rifle today! Specs are as follows:

Stiller TAC30 AW action with Stiller 20MOA rail
Mullerworks 8.5 twist remington varmint contour barrel finished at 24", chambered in 260 Rem and throated for 140gr bullets
Threaded 5/8x24 with seamless thread protector (I have a muzzle brake on order to use until my suppressor clears the ATF)
Jewell trigger with bottom safety (decided on the bottom safety since it would allow me to manipulate it without having to take my thumb out of the thumbhole stock)
Manners T5A stock with mini chassis
Atlas bipod

Barreled action was put together by Greg Young at Southern Precision Rifles. I had the stock already and installed the trigger myself. I will be having the barrel and action coated with cerakote in sniper grey in the next few months, but can't stand to not go out and shoot it a bit first!

Jewell Trigger with bottom safety

Seamless thread protector. In person with it cleaned up and tightened you literally can't see a seam at all!

Threaded 5/8x24

He also included what I thought was a dang good idea and a useful tool. He took the end of the barrel blank that was cut off the barrel and partially chambered it to use as a chambering aid to find where the bullet contacts the lands.

I am a pretty happy guy today! Not too excited about going to work rather than getting some loads worked up though.... I'm hopefully going to be able to get out and shoot it a bit on Sunday, but the weather is looking pretty iffy at this point, but we'll see. Initially I've got 140 Amax and 140 Berger target VLD's to work up and see what shoots the best.

Cheers,
Tim

That should turn out to be an outstanding rifle for precision shooting!

Very nice.

Perty dang'd nice stik there "5".

I cain't wait to see/hear some results of the range time with that rascal  !

Thanks guys! I was just scrolling through the pictures and still can't believe that's it's at home waiting for me! I'm so used to drooling over pictures of other people's custom rifles...never thought I'd have one of my own but I'm sure happy I do! I'm hoping to have time to get the scope mounted up tonight after work. And hopefully some range reports in the near future!

Wow a guy deserves one of those in his lifetime! I imagine that little 260 will be a dream to shoot in a rifle built like that with the weight and well made stock. Congratulations.

That should be a real tackdriver you have there, congratulations Tim. Looking forward to seeing how it shoots and what loads are working for you.

Looks good! What bullet and powder are you planning on trying to start with? The smith that does my rifles does the same thing with the end of the barrel.

I'll be starting with the 140 amax and Berger target vld. For powder I'm going with H4831sc to start with since I have a bunch of it. Hopefully working up to around 46.5 grains. The smith that built it says to try 46.5-47 grains of either 7828ssc or H4831sc with the 139 scenars as that load has been awesome in the rifles he's done with this reamer, but I don't have any scenar bullets and nobody local carries them. So I'll try these and if they don't work then I'll order some scenar's.

Let me know if the ones you are going to try don't work. I have some Scenars (123 and 139) purchased for my 6.5X47. I can send you a few to try before you spend the money on a box of them. The Scenar profile seems to be similar to the Berger Hybrid bullets. A lot of the guys shooting F-class found this profile to shoot a little better than the target VLD's.
I loaded 139 Scenars for my gunsmith to test in the 6.5X47 and he said the first hole was a little left of the next 4....that all were in the same hole! I'm using faster powders than you are using though. I haven't tried the 139's since I got the rifle and have been playing with the 130 Bergers and 123 Scenars. I am testing BR4 and 450M primers for final loads in Lapua brass this weekend. I am not going to shoot much F-class with this rifle, but will use it for a few of the 1000 yard matches.

My hunting .260 (Remington LE) really liked the 130 AB bullet once it was bedded. I never tried any 140's because of the twist rate and purpose of the rifle (hunting). I have the new Berger loading manual, so if you need some load data on the .260 I can help.

Thanks. I'll let you know if these don't shoot. I tried to find the Berger hybrid as well but they seem to be pretty scarce. I suppose the good thing is if it does end up liking the scenars is you can order them in 1000 count boxes at a pretty good price.

Tim,

That is one cool rifle! I really dig the Manners stock. Good luck with the load work and have fun shooting that sweet rig.
