Howd’y,
My main hunt this year is a muley hunt in NW Kansas with my padre. I’m taking my 280 Ackley for that.
However, I have a second hunt planned for the January extended Antlerless season in Kansas as well, this time with my hunting partner, Wyatt.
The land we hunt whitetails is his grandpa’s. It’s a pretty decently sized place with a creek, a large wheat field, and a canyon-esque feature that we see a lot of deer in.
If I end up sitting in the creek, I may end up using my Chiappa 1892 in 45 Long Colt. Never has been used on anything but steel and one of my senior photos.
It seems like a good brush gun, and the furthest I’d shoot is 50 yards down there.
Anyone have standby 45 colt hunting loads? I currently have 250gr XTPs over a healthy load of powder that I’ve never chrono’d, but they seem to shoot well enough.
