Just bought a case of Magtech large pistol primer to use in my .45acp from Graf & Sons.
Ran ten thru my Dillon press without a hitch, they seated smoother than another brand did.
Hopefully they will be consistent and go off every time.

After the case of Magtech primers arrived I decide to do a velocity test using the four different brands of large pistol primers I had on hand after talking with Fotis while trying to find a Brisance chart which would tell which primer was hotter.
I have Fiocchi, Winchester, Federal and Magtech large pistol primers so I decide to use my standard Bullseye load since I already knew what I was dealing with.
4.2grs of WST under a 185gr LSWCHP which will run a consistent 750fps out of my Custom .45 acp 1911.
10 shots with each primer with this load ran over my chronograph.
I won't give all the velocities but just tell what the ranking results were from fastest to the slowest.
Fiocchi was the fastest which was 20fps faster than Winchester with Federal being just a tad slower and Magtech being the slowest.
All four of these primers are listed for use in standard velocity loads.
The Magtech primer was a surprise since it was the most consistent overall giving consistent velocities and the case I bought will be put to good use in pistol matches. It could also turn out to be my go to primer for major matches instead of practice ammo.

Rodger, that was an unexpected turn of events. It sounds as though you have made lemonade out of lemons...
Thanks Dan, when something goes astray, I try my best to find out why so I can avoid having it happen a second time. I guess it comes from being a product of the greatest generation that has ever lived in our country since both of my parents came up during the depression. My Dad always said if it was worth doing it was worth doing right or not at all. That fraise has stuck with me all my life and defines the way I do things.
