I was thinking the other day about hunting/fishing/shooting and thought of a question.

If you were told that you have one day left and you can do what ever hobby you want on Earth, what would you pick?

I would pick late spring ice fishing with my wife and dad. The day would be 60 degrees and the birds of spring would be singing while returning from their winter absence. The edges of the lake would be opening and you would have to plank out to get to the bluegills and crappies who were moving into the shallow water waiting for the ice to disappearing the coming days. The biggest worry is sunburn and the rotten ice breaking near shore as you return with a limit of fish.

Good question.
If I had to make that decision, I would probably pick spring turkey hunting with my fiancé.

Spend the day with my wife.
She's my favorite hobby. :)

I'd be watching the sunrise from a goose blind.
With Dad, Ruger, Wife and children, a few good buddy's .
Not necessarily in that order . But Ruger has to be there, be damned if I'm chasing down a winged bird on my last day!!! Lol.

Oh man... last chance to hunt I'd have to take the family down to the Denali Highway area for a caribou and ptarmigan adventure.

I am just thinking how blessed we are along with our families. Just think not many people would even think of the outdoors let alone be able to have those types of days.
Thank you for this post as it gives one time to reflect.

Blessings,
Dan

As much as I love to hunt and fish it would have to be some where near water watching Gods creations go threw the daily chore of survival with my wife at my side watching the sunrise on a nice balmy spring mourning. No need to kill or catch anything just being apart of mother earth.

Spent doing I probably love to do the most with my family. Sitting around a campfire with my girls, my wife, no phones or ipads or computers. Just sitting around talking, giggling, and soaking it up.

This what I was attempting to convey when I said my wife was my favorite hobby.

I have always though if I had cancer with little time left. I would go up to Alaska and go shoot a few Big Brown Bears & when the Game Wardens asked if I shot them I would say Yes I did. I will never be able to afford to hunt them & most likely never live where I can buy a Resident Tag. So just hope I don't get Cancer or you will see me wacken and stacken Bears on the evening news.

Tough call on where and what; elk hunting is my favorite thing to do, I realize now how blessed I've been to have 47 consecutive seasons. Sure would like one more.
Deer, sure love that;
Upland birds and the dogs, that would be a fine day;
Alaska, a fickle mistress according to my lovely bride, since 1959 I've spent time every year soaking in her fragrance. I'd love to catch one more 30 inch rainbow and a few silvers;
I think I should like to set up my wall tent above the Grande Ronde river in September, the elk will bugle, the fishing good, the dogs will find grouse and I would take my granddaughter out after dark away from the fire to see the stars.

...much as I love elk hunting & moose, "one last chance", I'd go for mt. goat. They always seem to have " a room w/ a view". I really wouldn't mind if you just leaned me up against a rock & left me there...

I'd be typing, recording, or writing everything about my life and what advice I have for my four year old daughter. I'd do anything and everything she'd want to do that day, even if it means watching frozen for the 500th time.
