Lou,

I am hoping you tag out on a nice 6 footer.
Good luck on your return hunt.

Best wishes Lou. It sounds as if your outfitter is treating you well also. Would you mind sharing the name of the place?

A few days ago:

Alaskan brown bear though - and I was fishing, not hunting.

Good luck Lou!

Yeah, a 6 lb. tippet wouldn't be real effective on that critter, Guy.

Hah! I was using 12 pound leader, well equipped. Well, for salmon anyway!

Hi guy's, I just returned home from my second chance, and was successful last night, I'll get some photos up with the short story (y) I only had 2 day's to make it count, and I connected. Lou

Ok fellas, here's what happened, I left home early Friday morning and arrived at Hermann's house early afternoon, rain like crazy and thunder storms and lightning to boot, total wash out for a hunt, we went out the next morning to check out some baits, 2 out of 3 weren't hit, but the last one was being hit steady between 6-7pm, still pouring rain, anyways I sat in my stand for about 4 hours in the am, and close to 6 hours in the afternoon, I could only stay up there until tonight and be at home by midnight tonight, anyways the afternoon hunt made my day, sky's turned blue and no rain, I sat in my stand quietly with hardly any movement, but kept looking at my watch with my 300 win mag across my legs, then at around 6:35 this nice young bruin came out of the bush to my right, he went straight to the bait and my rifle was already in position, as he was sniffing the bait broadside, I launched off the 180gr swift scirocco from about 65-70yds from my treestand, the young bruin leaped and left an instant blood trail right where he stood, It was a great hit taking out the lungs, and his heart as well, he never went more than 10 yds. Thanks again Hermann and Carson for taking care of me, and your great service , you guys made it happen with your hard work!..If this was a full 5-7 day hunt, I would of passed on him, but for 1-2 days, I couldn't pass on him, he was a very healthy bear about 175# and 5Ft with a supper great hide, it all panned out well, or I'd still be in my stand as I'm typing here (y)
Lou :)

Thanks again everyone, this Bear well be all turned into smokie Italian sausage, and cheddar smokies as well, as for the bear, I'm doing a 3/4 mount, should be a nice addition above the fire place, :)

Congratulations on a dandy bear. He will taste great and make for a well deserved trophy in your home.
