Well after my last outing with my new sub moa .340 250gr AccuBond load
I went again today and the third round went 4 inches high I thought....huh.
I waited about 30 min while it was raining and settled back in to try again.
The vertical string was about 6 inches high and low. Well got home and pulled the action
the bedding looks good the action and mounts were tight, I believe my Lupy has given
up the erector. I call tech support and looks like its going home for a look see,
I truly can not believe it has failed. My Accumark has pounded this scope for hundreds
of rounds And I have stated on this forum that fact. I will wait for the verdict from Leupold
I feel helpless without my favorite rifle :(

Sure, it's quite possible. Even Leupold scopes break.

I had to send the 4.5-14x Leupold from my SWAT rifle back twice in the 1990's, when the windage adjustment failed. They fixed it for free, both times, and sent it back within 10 days. I think it was only about a week....

After the second "fix" it never failed again.

My 378 Bee killed a few

The optics companies should be using these to really test optics.. Might cull em before they hit the shelves..

Still sitting in the box waiting to go home.
Wrote them a nice letter telling them how
pleased I have been with the scope. It's a testament
to their quality. I know they will take
care of me. I also added if they want to
upgrade to a 8.5x25x50LR I'm ready to test
if for them.

Those huge cased Weatherby's can knock loose and/or break stuff with that much recoil after only a few rounds, so yours held up well!

I have had three electors replaced on the 3.5 X 10's. Of course I have using them a long time, on hard kicking rifles. My 308 tactical now wears one.

The scope is a VX3 4.5x14x50 LR side focus 30mm.
I sent Leupold an email this afternoon
and am waiting a reply. The talley system
holding everything together is bullet proof.
No marks on the tube, no movement at all.
I am impressed with it. 250's in the .33's put
up a lot of umph.. Skid

Thanks for the reply,

and I'm very interested in hearing what leupold has to say about this. I've got a VX7 atop a 340 wby and it has been fed a steady diet of 250 gr. SP's & 240 gr. NF's. About 230 rounds down the tube so far. The factory loads chrony around 3030-3050 fps and the hand loads are at 3030 fps. Both stout loads.

What really got my attention is reading your account of your trusted hand loads going high. The same very thing has happened to me but, it is from one batch while the other batch is dead on. The group size (staying within a batch) is spot on, only differing with the batch makes the POI change. I think I know what I did wrong but when reading your story my first thought was oh ****. :>)

I have had (3) Leupold III 3.5-10's dump on my .338's. I stopped using Leupold when I bought a .340 Bee and switched to Conquests with no issues using 250 PT's.

I've got a Leupold VX-3 4.5x14-50 with an illuminated B&C reticle on my 338 Ultra Mag. 800 rounds of heavy reloads and not a single problem. I'm sold.

Like I said before..I have had no trouble up to this point and have
been very happy with the scope, it's clear, bright, good eye relief and
considering it's held up well to the recoil. But my chrony must read slow cause
a full case of 7828,RL22, or MRP with a 250 can't make 3K, idk,
I post a report when I get the scope back from Leupold...Would'nt
surprise me if they sent back a VX6 with all the extras for me to pound
on. Skid

Based on Charlie's counsel I went with 7828 ssc at a healthy dose for the NF's. Other rifles chrony slow or where they should be but that .340 accumank spits them out at a pretty good clip. There is room for more but I subscribe to the notion that the enemy of good is 'better'.

The enemy of good is 'better'.
How true.
I think I've learned that one with RL22

Got the email from them today.
Derek said they received it last week
and are working on it now. Turn around
time was running 3 weeks. Communicating
with them has been fairly easy. Skid

Got a postcard from leupold with the repair
order. Service repair is 18 days.
Nice that they keep in touch with you.

The last one I sent in for repair, I got a nice card. I waited, days went by, so I called them. The guy on the phone said ---- let me see-----I tell him my name again------oh yes , yes we called you with no response. I said, oh really. My phone doesn't show you called me. Yep we sure did, we even sent you an e-mail.

They never did either. I thought, not like service in the past.

Okay, can I pay for this or are you going to send it out? It should go out this week.

It arrived, all is well with my scope.
