Dusted off my Rem 700 chambered in 22-250 this week and got a scope mounted up. Figured it hadn't seen any use in quite some time and the sage rats are starting to come out. I decided to try something new just for fun and did some load development using the 52gr Amax. I loaded 4 series of 5 rounds each in Nosler cases, CCI 200 primers, all over 41gr H380. I then loaded each series with a different COAL and decided to see where my gun liked the bullet seated.

It would appear that I need to keep pushing them deeper. 2.480" COAL has the bullet into the lands. I loaded at 2.467, 2.456, 2.443, and 2.434 with the shortest of them proving the most accurate. I will load some more of those and maybe a few more seated deeper and see what happens. According to the Nosler reloading guide, these should be smoking along at around 3900fps. The data in the book is from a 24" barrel and mine wears a 26" barrel. Didn't bother chronographing these yet. Figured I'd see if I could find a combo that shot well first.

The FedEx driver dropped off a new bushing for my Wilson die for my 260 along with a 500ct box of Berger 140 hybrids today too....so next time out I'll be giving the new IMR 4451 a test in my 260 as well. I'm excited to see how that combo pans out!

New bushing made all the difference with my bullet seating issues. Now have .002 in neck tension. I've got a few test loads done up with IMR 4451. I've got loads of 41, 41.5 and 42 grains. As soon as I get time I'll run them through my 260 and report back.

Can't wait to see how you do with your 260.. That thing has been impressive with just about everything.

Seems like the 22-250 won't take much to finish it up.
