hi all. im just starting to reload and im loading some e tip 130grn for my 270 win. I made a dummy cartridge and I very carefully put it in my chamber and pushed it in with bolt now this should give the measurement to the lands, correct me if im wrong, now I take that measurement and subtract .050 inch. and that would be my measurement off the lands,or do I measure from the marks on the bullet up higher where the bullet first touches the lands any help would be great ty so much jody

Jody,

I figure out where the bullet touches the lands and take a measurement. Then I seat the bullet 0.050" deeper.

Jody,

You are doing right. Your dummy round should just hold the bullet enough to allow it to slide in when the bolt closes. For E-Tips, I have found that 0.100 inches off the lands is very close to the sweet spot. Good luck as you work with these fine bullets.
