"4 rifles for sale, 2 military, all unknown make and caliber" Think I'll have to check that one out. Also selling a "7mm SAKO LH bolt action". I'm assuming 7RM but if 7X57 I might be a buyer. Wish me luck. I love treasure hunting.

Indeed, the best of luck as you attend the auction. It'll be interesting to see if you score.

That would be an interesting one, most likely a 7mm RM as you said but at one time they also chambered 7mm Wby, 280 and 7X64 as well in the model L 691 LH. Sounds like fun :)

Hey gerry, I thought you were thinking of going out to see if you could tag a griz! I was sure hoping for photos and a good story.

Blessings,
Dan

Heading out tomorrow after lunch, I'll keep you guys posted.

I trust you'll have success, Gerry. I'm out for blackies on Monday.

Picked up a marvelously ugly T99 last ditch... way last ditch..., serial number puts it in the last few thousand made in Korea for about $200 less than gunshow prices. It still had sand in the barrel. With a few patches of oil it cleaned up to strong rifling without pitting but I probably wont be shooting it unless I work up some super mild trail-boss loads. Gotta love that chrome. Looks like it was made by the village idiot with worn out tools. These are getting very rare and fetching a premium, rapidly escalating price for collectors trying to round out their WWII guns. Mum is missing but I'm not sure it ever had one. No sign of grinding it off and all stampings are very weak.

Other 3 ukn rifles were "sporterized." One was a very interesting Rem contract mosin, early sporter job, very well done. Some neat garage craftmanship, but not worth a lot of money. Too bad it got buggered. Other 2 were Pre-war K-98s sporterized (poorly). Too bad, very valuable rifles if left in K98 form due to rare mfg and Waa codes.

Sako went for 575 with a nice Nikon scope mounted. It was like new. Good deal but I didn't need it and wasn't sure I could make money at that price on a LH gun.
