Don`t hunt from a truck hardly at all, but a 35.5" long rifle, is wonderful to stalk with and to carry on hunts.

I get that, yesterday I hunted for the first time with my 45-70 Guide Gun and man, what a pleasure it was to carry it. Worked great from a tree stand or just carrying. A lot to be said for a handy rifle that packs alot of power. My 358 Win BLR is much the same. Scotty

I was right then, the 7mm mags won't get it there. My 260 comment was referring to DF's comment. . Which Ballistic Calculator are you using? my favorite is "Big Game Info" , pretty simple to input, and my rifles match the outputs. I know what you mean about noise and muzzle blast, I have a 350 rem with the 18" barrel and in addition to the above it kicks like a mule. The only rifle I have which has cut me more than once.!!!
.....................The Hornady "external" ballistics calculator on the Hornady site.

......................Walked into elk camp last year with that liitle carbine. The first impressions from a few were comical.

Little did they know, that it had the same power as a 24" to 26" tubed 30-06 AI..................

I have tried the Hornady ballistic calculatior but by the time I got all of the inputs finished, my beer mug was empty so I had to go to the fridge, then on the way I had to stop in the boys room, then when I got back to the computer it had gone to sleerp, by the time it woke up I had forgotten which rifle I was running the data on!!!!! Hope you are all having a great weekend. I have 10 more days until my next elk hunt I am not quite ready yet.
