looking for 260rem info

Hey I was looking in the newest hornady book and found them running there 120amaxs with h4831sc up around 46.5 was thinking about trying that with the 120 nosler ballistic tip

Also I saw on other threads guys using rl22 with the 130ab what weight is good to start at I could not find that powder listed in my books

Nice looking rifle I really like the stock. Cant comment on the 130 AB as I have not used them yet in my 260 but your charge weights are closer to what you would use for a 140 Partition. Start working up a bit I have been using 48 grains with the 120 B tip and 125 Partition for quite a long while and groups and velocity's are excellent. I have been up to 50 grains without issue but groups were poor. I am thinking something like 47 grains give or take a bit should get you closer to your goal.

As always work up watching for pressure signs and get some nosler 260 brass it lasts better than the rem stuff trust me on that one.

Best of luck

Thanks and yes i do, That was just in the gun cabnet its going to go on a old westernfield 22.
I was just impatient to shoot it so i stuck it on there for the time being. Im really looking at the
4-12x40 Redfield accurange or a leupold in the same 4-12x40 class 99.9% of the places i hunt i dont need more than that. I know it sounds stupid but when i started this project i set a price cap of $650.00 just to try and prove a point that a awsome shooter can be built on a budget. So far im at $350.00 so i might have to add 50-75 to my cap for a scope.

Also thanks can i ask what powders you are/have used ? the stock is a ross feather weight from Boyds they have 8-10 different colors my daughter picked out that one because her in a few years when she is old enough to hunt it will be her's

i think i found something with real promise 46.5 gr of H4831sc and a 120 nosler ballistic tip

If your magazine permits, you might try loading closer to the lands. If not, you might try seating deeper or fine-tuning your charge.

i think i can go out to 2.810 but im waiting on a crimp die.

none of these loads have been crimped. and i have another rifle that shoots better with the rounds crimped. so i want to try that as well.

Crimping isn't necessary, but there are some of us who do crimp certain cartridges. Have you measured to the land? Do you know how far off the lands you are with your cartridge as it now it set up?

mike im not sure.
i do know that if i seat @2.830 i cant close the bolt.
2.820 is a hard close

i need to try and find a candle and try an smoke a bullet.
but im not 100% sure how to do it. other than buying a gauge is there another way to do it thats really easy

There is a really good review of determining distance to the lands in the Nosler RG No. 6. Look at page 43

I will be very happy with the same or or better if its possible. the group was shot with a $65 simmons that was semi sighted in for 100yards.

so on this scope i will get it ZEROed in properly for hunting.

because i have a feeling that i will not be the 1st to hunt with it this year. my small female cousion is showing a big intrest in hunting and her dad dont have any little girl guns so to see if she likes hunting or not ill more than likly let her use it.

that would be very cool! Love to see the young kids getting out there! Your rifle will flat knock em with that load too!

scoped worked awsome. all most the smae size group @ 100. im thinking that most of it was me and not the gun or the scope

Good stuff, cooker. Always glad to see good reports from those who post here.
