Well things are looking up at the local hardware store as they have a well stocked supply of powder! Even though the price is a bit inflated ($36.99), I decided I needed to give the new IMR 4451 a go in my 260. I'll probably test it with the 140 Berger hybrid and the 140 amax since I have a few boxes of them on my bench.

If Nosler wants to send me a few boxes of the 142 ABLR I'd be happy to test them for you with the new powder! (y)

Mark me down as genuinely envious! Good for you on having such a well-stocked shop. I'm struggling to find bullets and actions that I want/need!

Oh I still have my struggles DrMike....I think I'm probably going to have to bend over and pay the shipping to stock up on bullets. Can't seem to find the one's I'm looking for anywhere locally. But it's a step in the right direction anyway! And even at that price it's still cheaper than ordering and paying shipping + hazmat fees unless I'm ordering an absolute crap ton of it.

I'm hoping that if the 4451 ends up being a go to powder that I can talk them down on price if I buy 8 of the 1lb cans.....we'll see.

Nevertheless, a very encouraging sign. Give us an update on how long it takes for the shelves to be stripped. I'm curious is there is a sufficient supply to keep the shelves stocked or whether they will be stripped quickly.

Mike,
I would anticipate it staying stocked pretty well. Smaller town so not hordes of people swarming the store. They've had a pretty good supply for a few months now but there were a few more on the shelf today I haven't seen in awhile, namely the Alliant powders and a few 8lb jugs of IMR. But they seem to be pretty flush in the common powders.

If anyone in Eastern Oregon or Western Idaho is looking for a specific powder let me know and I can check to see if they have it. They had a bunch of the new 4451, 4166 and 7977.

Yeah, I noticed the Alliant powders. I have to admit that brought a tear to my eye.

I have bought bullets at Bi Mart in Baker and La Grande. The sporting goods store on the s end of Pendleton also has a great selection of bullets.

Thanks Elkman,

Ya, there is a good selection of standard hunting bullets and the such here. I specifically am looking for either Berger 140 VLD Hunting or Hybrids in 6.5mm. My 260 loves em both. Would love to stumble onto a couple of 500ct boxes of them but I'd settle for a couple of boxes if I could find them. I'm running dangerously low at this point! I have several boxes of 140 amax which also shoot well in my rifle but I give up some BC to the Berger's. It's not a huge difference but it's noticeable when I start to stretch it out.

Yup - here to in central Washington. Supplies of bullets, powder & primers are looking good. Amazing amount of Nosler brass on the shelf too! That's encouraging, though I'd like to see more of the "bulk" bullets and brass avail for .223 etc...

Just picked up a couple of pounds of H4350 today. Wanted 8 pounds, settled for two. That's okay. I've got quite a bit.

Alliant RL-15 was avail in good quantity as well, but I surely don't need any. Have plenty on hand.

Guy

Geez guys. I haven't seen anything like that in years. I was fortunate enough to pick up 4 lbs of IMR4198 last week in SLC. Locally they have a couple pounds of shotgun powders and that's it other than BMG50 and an occasional pound of other stuff here and there it's quite pitiful.
