im loading up some 30/06 in 165gr particians,, im at .022 off the lands with a charge of 55.5 of IMR 4350,, my goodness these rounds look long
col is 3.485 thats from tip to base,, they do chamber and are not into the lands but man they sure look long,,,,,

Simple rules:

Fit the mag?
Feed reliably?
Safe pressure?
Accurate?

If you can answer yes to all of the above, no worries!

I like loading 'em out like that when I can... Makes factory ammo look short!

It's all about perception... In addition to all that practical stuff, like does it work...

took um out and shot um  all is well groups are nothing to brag about tho,, however i did make three rounds at .025 off the lands with 56.5 of IMR 4350,, first shot hit ,, second and third shots hit about 2'' from the first,, two and three were darn near in the same hole  but like i said they were about two inches from the first shot,, what causes this???? the barrel was semi warm and i dont think i jerked it

I'm loading 30-06 with a 165GR. Nosler BT for a single shot handy rifle. My load is 53grains of H4350 powder,Rem. cases,Fed. 210 primers with Nosler 165Gr. BT. I'm supposedly being able to get 2678FPS. out of this load. My overall length from tip to base is 3.300"-3.305". They look long, but they go into my rifle good and shoot well.

Noslers Rock!

Romex, you can't tell much with just one group, just too many variables.
Once you've fired several groups, and it's beginning to form a pattern, then you can start to figure out the why and fix it.

Try about 6 different charge weights. See if there is something it like, then start playing with coal.
