Has anyone used this powder ? I'm getting ready to load some 338 Fed and I'm wondering how it meters and fills a case as compared to other powders, such as Varget, RL-15, or RL-19 ?

Data lists 50grs as a max and I know that will take a judicious hand to get it all packed in that case.

I've used LVR on several cartridges. I can't say that it has given me an advantage over the old standbys to date.

I am interested too, mainly for the 358 win. It is the listed velocity leader in the 338fed. I would love to throw the 225gr PT with an extra 100 fps which in my rifle would be 2540fps.

I is the powder for using the 220gr speer or 200gr flex tip in the 35rem. But I have a life time supply of 200 gr Rem CLRN's and H4895 works just fine with them (same speed).

It is superbly awesome in my 3030 w/a number of bullets. Its fast as promised and also darn clean burning.
This 3030 is a good shooter but there are lots of glowing reports on lever in the chatrooms.
Betting you're gonna be glad you tried it!

me too with the 220 speer in the 358.

I have 5 lbs of it

I use LVR in my 35 Rem shooting 220 Speers. I have several boxes of the 200 FTX Hornadys as well that I have yet to load, and will use the same powder.

I have also used it to come up with a load for my Dad's 300 Savage shooting a 150gr Speer. We both shot doe on the same day with handloads using the same powder 2 weeks ago.

One of the benefits of LVR is allegedly the lower pressures that it produces per velocity achieved. A tester on the Marlin forum suggests that you can't stuff enough in a 35 Rem case to harm yourself or the brass, and he has gotten impressive case life using it. Given the size similarity to the 300 Savage I suspect the same is true, though I do not think Dad will ever shoot that rifle enough for it to be an issue.

If it seems to be a powder you would like to try, and you want long case life as a nice side effect, give it a try.

Not to hijack... but I really wish some manufacturers would reshoot 358Win with modern components. If you look at book loads and go back in the older manuals it hasn't changed in forever. Never tried LVR but would like to see how it compares to Tac and N133, N135 powders. Hornady doesn't make a 225gr 358 bullet so they aren't going to do it. Come on Sierra & Nosler and all you powder manufacturers! Help us out a little.

I feel like I am taunting some one every time I ask about the 358 win and a new powder. I also would love to see new loadings for it at normal and + P for guns like BLR, Bolts, and 7600.

I use it in the .35 Rem. using a Speer 180gr. rifle is a Rem. mod 760. loaded to the top and no problems. H4895 shoots as well but the LVR flows better. Plan on staying with it.

With the 180gr speer H322 come close and in some rifles tops 2400 fps in 20" barrels. Mine is a ported 18.5". That's why I am not using TAC or LVR with the 200 gr Rem CLRN's, Just burns too slow for my barrel. With your 760 I would use the 200gr flex tip and never look back. And the 220 Speer if bear or moose was on the menu.

Just curious what barrel length and velocity are you getting with the 180gr and LVR?

Bbl is 22ins. Haven't shot it over a crony yet so don't know the velocity and do plan on using the Hornady 220gr. flext tips when I get all the Speers shot up. The factory Hornady 220s shoot about 5/8 in. at 100yds. Got 9 boxes sitting on the shelf. This gun was made in 1979. Did take a doe in our early season with it this year. This the 2nd of these 35's I've owned and like them.

Oh yeah no moose here in WV but several bear and working on getting the elk restored again. At 57 I might not see it but son and grand kids should.
