M70 358 Norma

Pretty nice stick of wood on that one, Scotty. Even has a 14" LOP for you.

I did see the seller was in Elgin. I'm trying really hard not to start with my Elgin jokes...

I do wish you would cease posting such information, Scotty. I didn't know I needed something like this until I saw it.

Same here buddy.. Same here!

I've started twice to build this rifle, but something came up each time. That intel is simply cruel.

Yeah, I think the 35 Newton will be cool as well, but the Norma is always near the top...

Undoubtedly, the Newton would be a cool cartridge, just because of its relative rarity. However, the 358 Norma would have great utility, especially in my AO.

I hear you. The Norma isn't out yet, that is for sure...

Now that is one beautiful rifle and also will cost somebody a lot. I do like the 358 Norma

Scotty,

That one would round out your 35 cal collection nicely buddy! Talk about an elk hammer!

That is the long term goal, to have a really good 35 caliber magnum for the safe. I like the Norma alot as well. I will have to see how the 338/375 turns out, then make any tweaks as I get nearer to that 35 cal build.

What do you think of a 35-338 RUM? You would be able to push the 250 gr PT over 3k fps.

I think it is a MONSTER Jim! That is another one I have thought that is pretty darned awesome. I have did a little reading on it, I think it goes by the 358 UMT in some circles. I am still a ways away from anything right now, but all the big 35's have alot going for them. Even the 358 Norma is a fairly easy cartridge to push the 250 PT up over 2850. That is alot of hitting power...

A lot of hitting power, for sure! That would put the hurt on about any animal in NA and most in Africa.

Nice rifle for sure. Great wood on that one. I love mine. With 26" tube, I can drive 225's at 3k fps. Hits like a freight train.

With no disrespect to the 338 Win, I've always thought that the Norma was the perfect elk cartridge.

MG! I am with you there. I love my 338WM, but I really love the 358's.. I know it is all in my head, but man, something about them 35's.. It is hard to pick the right one it seems like!

It is just not in your head because you have experienced what a 35 caliber can do in the field and I agree it would be hard to pick the right one.
