Well, I have had this 6.5 Swede for awhile. Picked it up a few months back cause I thought it would be awesome for my daughter Dylann to use for hunting and I just love the little Featherweights. I have put exactly one box of PRVI 139 bullets through the rifle.

Found some Hornady cases, used CCIBR2's and used H4895 for the powder. Wanted something light that recoil isn't an issue, and since they list starting loads on Hodgdon, I decided to load 10 120 BT's and 10 123 Amaxs. My thinking was at around 2400 FPS (estimated) they should perform well for deer since our shooting tends to be short and the deer are scrawny.. Anyhow, here is what it looked like.

First up was the Amax's

Smiled a little when I saw that....

Then the BT's.

Then I shot another group with the AMAX's..

Anyhow, all the groups looked about the same. Figure I can sink them in with a little seating depth adjustment, but I was pleased. Recoil was nothing. Just a loud 22 in my opinion..

Really enjoyed shooting that little rifle. Once I get it dialed in, I plan on breaking out some jugs and letting Dylann have some fun with it. Get her tuned up for hunting season.

Time permitting I'll work on a full power sorta load for it, but for now, I am having fun with the H4895 loads..

That looks to be a sweet little Swede! I have to believe Dylann will be pleased when she tags her first deer with that rifle.

She got her first buck last year.... Moving her up to the big bore 6.5 this year.

My bad; I do remember that. Don't let her know I "dissed" her accomplishment. She'll be pleased to tag out with the Swede, I'm sure.

I think so... She said she likes the pretty wood on it.

I'm with Dylann on that. That is a big factor in my joy in handling Featherweights.

looks like you had a good day at the range . I've had good luck with the reduced loads being accurate .

Sweet little rifles they are!

Looks as if you got a shooter too. With the reduced loads have you thought about running ABLR's?

The 123 gr A Max load is looking very good, will be neat to see how far they end up penetrating. Looking at Hodgdon's data it sounds like you were loading their minimum charge of H 4895 of 34 gr with a 120 gr BT. Should make a fine deer load for her, glad it is working so well already.
