Really happy to report that I finally made it out there again.
I was shooting my new Rem 300 RUM CDL and my Marlin XL7 30-06. Here is the CDL since I never posted a picture.

Loads with the 300 RUM:

210 Berger VLD 92 gr RL 25 3100 fps .6" @ 100 yards

210 Berger VLD 95 gr Retumbo 1.2" @100 yards 3157 fps

200 AB 92 gr RL 25 3170 fps .6" at 100 yards

Now the 30-06

180 Interlock SP 2770 fps H4350

168 E-tip IMR 4360 at 2780 fps about 1" or so. I can still increase the charge.

All in all a decent day. I might fine tune the AB's or the VLD's in the Rum but not too sure. 0.6" from a sporter weight factory gun is not too shabby.

That 300UM on the CDL is a very nice looking set up Pop. It would be nice if they would chamber them in the 338UM also. I like my 35 Whelen CDL and another one in an UM would be a nice handling/carrying rifle. Great shooting with the VLDs and Accubonds, both loads look really deadly. Scotty

Pop what are the details of your scope? Power range? 30mm? Also, is that an EGW base or another type? Thanks for the info.

YUP it is a 20 MOA EGW mount. The rings are low height Warnes.
The scope is a Leupold Long range 30mm 4.5x14x40mm with M1 dials.

RUM's rule
Good job on that one.
The right rifle with the right scope with the right shooter 8)
Way to go Pop

Very cool set up Fotis! I just got my RUM back from the smith...had it pillared, floated and glassed. I'm using the same base as you except mine is 20 MOA. Once I got it home, I put a 6-18x40 buckmaster on it that has large target knobs also but with 1/8th MOA. Your 30mm would definitely be nice but I'm afraid to know what that scope would cost me!

I just got through an ORI/UCI out here at the base and have had one night off since Feb 16th and have been pulling 12s  I woke up to good news today though and found out I'm being comped with quite a bit of time off and don't have to go back to work until the 17th! Sounds almost too good to be true!! Anyway, I plan to get my gun dialed back in at 100 in the next couple days and would like to go up to the grasslands later in the week and ring steel again starting at 300 to set my zero. If you'd be interested in going along, let me know in a PM and we can set a day and time. I've got a bench, gong, and all that jazz and am really looking forward to stretching it's legs, moving out 100 yards at a time and figuring out my drops. 200 AccuBond is the bullet I'm shooting, only with 95 grains Retumbo. My CDL was grouping at about 5/8" before, so pretty close to what you've got going on. Will be interesting to see if the groups shrink any now that the work has been done.

Fotis,

It looks as if both of those rifles are capable of fulfilling their destiny. The 200 grain AB load will work for about anything in North America, and for most of the world. And the 180 grain IL will work for most things anyone would ever want to hunt. A couple of great shooting rifles. Congratulations.

Yote:

I am in! My buddy Adam has a 50 bmg and we go out there quite a bit.

So your rifle shot 5/8" prior to all the work done on it?

RUM and POP.....kinda goes together nicely doesn't it?

Fotis, yes I was getting 5/8th at 100 without even taking the barreled action and stock apart and I hunted with the rifle this past elk season. Was probably just fine the way it was. I did have the brake installed before I ever shot it....But it's the off season and after all I bought the rifle because I wanted to use it for long range (and the fact it was 40% off a couple days before Sportsmans Warehouse closed their doors here in town). Anyway, it may not have been necessary but I'm looking to find out soon.

You got a lot of testicular fortitude messing with a 1/2" rifle! Wow.

Hope she does well.

POP.....

Did I see you post .6 in from a "Remington" sporter isn't too bad ??
Good Looking rifle - I had previously stayed away from the 210 VLD's in mine because of the twist.
Looks like I had better get a box and break out the Retumbo & RL-25 again.

Pop, 5/8", but yeah hopefully 1/2" now lol. Will let you know if I "fixed" anything later today. What modifications have you made to your rifle? Any?

I hope she does better than that 4 U my friend! Modifications? hmmmm oh yes! I put a good scope on her!

Wise Azz I know! No seriously, did nothing to the rifle but I worked like a horse on the brass prep though. I did everything to it.

Powesrstroke.

I honestly am surprised it did that well. 8)

Max. load in my rifle.

Sweet, Kodiak. Great shooting from a fine rifle. What was your velocity with that charge?

X2, that is a great shooting load, and it looks like a very nice rifle. Congrats on your load work with it. Scotty
