To add to shooting at running game: I shoot skeet which is a FAST shotgun game and it has taught me a lot about angles and lead. I defiantly feel a little more comfortable about shooting at running game. MORE times than not I lower my gun with out pulling the trigger but when I do shoot, I feel like I'm more confident about the whole thing.

I shoot skeet, 5 stand and sporting clays every month now as a result of my deal.
I shoot upwards of 1000 rounds of rifle ammo every year and probably 5-6 times that in shotgun shells.

Many years back a buddy took one of his new apprentices to Michigan's UP for a bit of private land deer hunting. He put him in a blind with several doe licenses. He heard 8-9 shots that morning and when his apprentice arrived back in camp he asked how many deer they would be hanging. The answer was none. He asked him if he had a scope on his rifle: yes. Does it have crosshairs in it: yes. Do you use them?? Well, that afternoon he sent the young man back out, but with his .30-06, and the instructions: put the crosshairs where you want the bullet to hit, then squeeze the trigger. He heard 3 shots. When the young man arrived back in camp he proudly announced that there were three deer to be hung. He also made him an offer to purchase his rifle [that was promptly declined].

I recognize that sometimes $hit happens, but luck generally seems to follow the prepared man.

Perspective... No hunter wants an animal to suffer, but no matter how ignoble an end a deer might face by the worst shot in history, it would be far better than being torn up and literally eaten alive by a pack of wolves. BT

Without a doubt BT.. You nailed it buddy. We do our best, even though "ours" might not be as good as the next guys.. Hopefully everyone has a person to help them along in shooting.
