Good looking lever guns fellas. I will have to get some pics of mine up.
Great looking 94's, I have a 94 AE in .307 Win that I have never hunted with. It begs me every year to get it out but I keep it as a safe queen, tell me I'm crazy for doing so!
Those cast bullets are perfect!!!!!! I cast for my MZ and they look more like melted butter than bullets. Those of yours are impressive!!!!!!!
Dave, you have THE best looking Marlin I have seen. It is an awesome rifle. Wished I would have held out longer for something like it. It is hard to not like Guide Guns or really, any 1895's! Once you really start shooting them and see how accurate they can be, it will turn alot of us bolt gun lovers on our heads! My first true groups was under an inch at a 100 yards, with minimal load work, no pillar or glass bedding, no "tweaks". Nothing, just a scope and a decent load! Ever since then, it is still turning in great groups and MOA or better out to 300 yards. That is great performance from a short barreled, thumb sized lead launcher! Scotty
Well,,,,I don't know that it's an addiction or not. The top and my first mold which cast a 405 gr ( the other cavity is for the .454), Would cover all my needs on this continent, so when it goes beyond needs to wants, I'm not sure what that quantifies other than a desire. The second mold is from BRP in 350/420/ 465 grs.. Figuring I would have enough to cover most any need. Although, still not sure I really need a 350 gr, as what it will do, so will the 420 gr.,,,just save on alloy is all. The 465gr. is just in case I need heavier. Plus I wanted to see if their was much difference between the 2 lube groove designs.
My intention is to work up a load(s) for the 405 and 420gr weights, find what shoots best and close to the same POI, if possible, or just go with the best shooter. Then have Skinner build me a front "Sourdough" sight to my trajectory reqiurements for their Peep Rear sight I have on it now.
Then take either the 465 gr. or the 470 gr. I just got (another brass mold from Accurate Molds out of Utah), and find a good load, and sight that in on the factory rear sight with the new Sourdough front.
Pot is about hot, while waiting for a holster lamination to cure,,,so time to cast a few. I will have pics of the new mold soon as well.
Didn't mean to stray too far from the topic
No worries Dave! Cast and the 45-70 seem to go together well! Can't wait to see and hear how your bullets shoot! I still need to get my 425's down range and see how they shoot. Scotty
And here is the new AM mold and the boolits it throws.,,,,,
And like the first,,,, one cavity for the .454 and the second for the .45-70 weighing 360 and 470 grs. respectively.
So I think I got anything bigger or meaner than Elk covered now.
Dave
Dave, those bullets look AWESOME! I love how that 470gr 45 cal looks! Man, that bullet looks to be all business! Can't wait to here and see how they shoot. Scotty
