Mossberg 4x4 trigger problem

In the interim between selling the 257 and buying the 416 I replaced my 325 WSM with a 338 WM. in the Mossberg 4x4. It's pretty in marinecoat and laminate and has fluted and muzzlebraked barrel. BUT the trigger won't work correctly. It seems the trigger spring can't return the trigger all the way after firing and that locks up the trigger mechanism. I just brought it home brand new. Has anyone else had any experience with these?

Greg,

I've shot three or four of these rifles doing load development or break-in. I never experienced what you describe. It sounds as if it warrants a return to the factory before you need it.

I'm going to call them today and see if they can send out a new trigger. I don't want to spend anymore time and money on a lemon. I've worked the trigger and tried to unbind the mechanism a little and it shoots about 2 out of 3 times. Not dependable at all. :(

Man, hope they work it out for you. Sounds like a pretty cool rifle though. Scotty

Greg,

FWIW, all the 4X4s that I have shot were surprising accurate for what I think of as an entry level rifle. I really hope Mossberg treats you right and sends a trigger assembly. I suspect, however, that they will insist on the rifle being returned to them or sent to an approved repair facility. I'll be interested in seeing how they respond. In any case, when such things happen, it is a real downer.

A couple years ago I had the ejector brake on my bolt of my mossberg 100 atr in the 270 win. All I did was call them up and the only questions they asked was what model and what my address was. Hope they treat you well to.
