Hi all!
my youngest dauther tried hunting for the first time this year.
she turned 12 this spring, so is now old enough to hunt here in Quebec. since 2008 the fish and game here allow someone who never hunted before to call and get an hunting initiation number.
which after you get it, allow the hunter to buy all the hunting license he wants, and hunt all the seasons he wants that year, as long as he use the right weapon for the season. but he has to be accompanied by a regular hunter aged over 18. it's good for only once in your life. but it's a good way to get new people to the sport. if they like it , then they follow hunter ed. and firearms safety class for the other years.
since crossbows are allowed in bowseason here, and you can shoot any deer during bowseason, i chose to make her practice with the crossbow, it also less intimidating than a rifle at first.
so last saterday she was in a camo tent with her mom, when a doe came in range and stayed long enough for her to get a shot. now she's hooked, and wants to get hunter's ed next winter 8)

That's great. Look at that grin!

Congratulations to you, your daughter and "mom" who was in the blind with her! A family hunt. It doesn't get any better than that. Good job.

Congratulations to your daughter on this first doe. She certainly looks as if she has just had the thrill of her young life. That is just great. I can't wait to introduce my granddaughter next year.

Nice, smile says it all. The initation tags are a great idea, wish alberta would think of something similar. Last year was my nephews first year, but here you still have to apply for any draws like every one else.

CH- that is awesome buddy! What a smile on her face! You did darned well getting her trained up and ready for the shot. Great work buddy! Congratulations, I hope she continues to hunt as she grows up! Might keep them young tellers at bay as well, knowing she can handle herself in the woods and put a killing shot on anything if she so desires! Scotty

That is awesome!
Congratulations to your daughter. The smile says it all. Way to go team CH.

Great job, I hope that this is just the start! It is so good to see father daughter team :)

Blessings,
Dan

A doe doesn't make for much of a "trophy" - so for my son's first deer I got a print of the photo I took of him with his doe, and Dad built a nice wooden frame for it with a brass plaque engraved with the date. We keep that on the shelf here in the family room where everyone can see it, every doggone day. That way there's a "trophy" from the first hunt, even though there's no antlers.

Just a thought.

thank's to all of you for the good comments.
Sarah is in her second year in a enriched english class, and she's getting more and more bilingual
i'll have her read this post for practice

Guy, that's also what i do with their ''trophies''
