Last friday and saturday my girlfriend and i did a little shed huntin. Friday evening I found 7 old little ones, and Saturday, we found 3. Two sheds from last year and one little fresh one. Yesterday I figured I might as well take my lab out for a walk on the other half of the property that we didnt cover. I was walking through a little pasture where the rancher had been feedin his bulls and spotted this layin there
I roughly measured it out at during my lunch break. I figured his broken brow tine would have gone 3 or 4 inches which would have put this side right around 70". This is clearly the largest shed I had ever found. All I could think about today was were the other one could be, if it wasnt still attached to the buck. I had no idea where to even start looking.
Today I only had about an hour and a half between work and church so I ran out to a little piece of property on the other side of the highway where we usually bow hunt. I was just walkin along when I got to a fence. I dont know what made me decide to go left down the fence instead of right but I walked about 10 yards and found a spot where there was a heavy trail crossin the fence. I looked down and saw this...
I could not believe what I had just found! The other side to the big shed I found yesterday. I found them over a mile apart in less than 24 hours! Talk about needle in a hay stack.
The brow tine on the second side is also broke off but figure it would go 3-4 inches also which puts this side right at 70". Add a spread of about 18" brings this buck to right around 160". Im sure it will be a very long time before I find another set like this.
Here are some other pics of the set.
A pic of the side i found yesterday with a rubbed cedar fence post.
Second side from today
Both sides
Not the best self timer picture but gives you an idea of size
