My model 700 collection!

Very Nice! I could handle being the owner of those!! Even though I'm pretty much a single shot guy.

That is one thing I don't own. I have been looking at some ruger no.1's lately and they really appeal to me. The only thing I lack though is the cash.

Wow! There's a lot of that going around! Things have gotten so tight that I'm considering selling a Model 70!

Same here Mike. I can't imagine selling one of the M70's though!

So, the CDL is more tenuous than the new Featherweights?

I had to look "tenuous" up...

ten·u·ous/ˈtenyo͞oəs/
Adjective:
Very weak or slight: "the tenuous link between interest rates and investment".
Very slender or fine; insubstantial: "a tenuous cloud".

I am still not sure how to answer Mike. I would say the CDL is just about the same rifle as the Featherweight for carrying though. A little different looking and not quite as "solid feeling" but virtually the same to my untrained hands.

The CDL is really a great hunting rifle. I am still a little heart broken the 25-06 was such a touble for me. It really was a sweet rifle with great wood on it. I think the Featherweight will be a good match for it and I kinda think another Featherweight in 25-06 will replace it in the future. Scotty

I was questioning whether your commitment to the CDL was as strong as your commitment to the Model 70s. Does this mean that the CDL could be on the selling block before the Model 70s?

Yeap, I would have no issues sending that CDL away should I have a proper M70 to build a Whelen off of. Matter of fact, Shawn Finley almost talked me into a TGR in a Whelen.. It was touch and go for a little while. He was very convincing, but the Whelen is staying in place for a little while longer.

Selling an M70 is pretty much out of the question. I've worked too hard to find the ones I want and so far, none of them have given me any reason to send them away.

Oh, yeah, a Nosler chambered in 35 Whelen would be a superb addition to my gun safe. However, once I get my current projects paid for, I may want to do another build--just because.

Yeah I hear that!
I still have 2 #1's, but still use the Encore the most. It's abit lighter to carry (usually), breaks down so I can more readily pack multiple barrels if needed for a trip. And I also can set just about set up 2 barrels for the cost of one #1. But the #1 is is classy rifle with out a doubt!!!

I don't know why,, I always have that "just because" thing going on too. With what I got,,,, need, certainly isn't part of the equation any more.

When I was younger, and could have benefited from a variety of rifles, I was forced to carefully consider what I might acquire. Now, I have a little more discretion, I confess that I do enjoy being able to add firearms "just because."

Same here Mike. I think I could still get an M70 cheap enough and just make a 35 Whelen and outfit it the way I want and still be under the TGR. I do think a TGR is a pre built, ready to hunt package though. They did well with that rifle. I really have more than my share, so hopefully the boy starts carrying some of these soon! Scotty

Scotty - If you ever decide to relieve yourself of that hideous CDL, I will be more than happy to assist you in the divestiture of said rifle.

Character marks are worse than Crow's feet on a 40yr old woman's face. I wouldn't hesitate to dump that eyesore.

Certainly you deserve a rifle with a well-grained, satin-finished stock, CRF, and three-position safety with "Made in SC" stamped on it. Maybe a Douglas or Pac-Nor barrel with a deep throat, meticulously installed into a trued-action. Wouldn't you be the hit at hunting camp as you unleash your new beauty from its case and attract the envious stares from your hunting buds.

Sure, I'll help ya with your issue. I'll even pay a fair price to haul away that old brood mare from your rifle stable.

As I've often noted, the generosity of those frequently this forum is simply amazing. What a generous offer, CC!

There is a whole lot of generosity flowing from this place around the holidays, that is for sure! Scotty

And while CC enables you to divest yourself of that embarrassment of a rifle, I'll take that nasty old 64 WM and that terrible old 7X57 off your hands. I don't want you to continue to suffer with the embarrassment that surely accompanies pulling such excuses from the gun case. I'm an old man, so it no longer matters if people snicker behind my back. If only I can help a buddy, Scotty. I'll make arrangements to transfer them as soon as you give me the high sign.
