I posted a WTB for some Nosler 6mm 95gr BT in Classifieds for my recent acquisition, and user '6mm Remington' suggested I post some pics of it. Here we go. FN Mauser action barreled by Atkinson & Marquart. 1 in 10 twist. Just mounted the Leupold 3-9x50mm last night. Load development starts tonight (all suggestions welcome). Can hardly wait to take it to the range!

Looks a lot like the 6-284 my grandpa built for my father on a Brno action. That's one sweet rifle.

That is a great combo, nice wood with a good piece of glass on top .
Sure looking forward to the range report with photos I hope .

Blessings,
Dan

Very nice looking piece. The pictures will assuredly make David (6mm Remington) happy.

I love the 6mm Rem cartridge!

Good looking custom Mauser too. Any idea when it was built? The style of the stock makes me think 1960's.

My favorite deer load is the 95 gr Ballistic Tip, over a max charge of RL-22. Around 3,000 fps and very accurate. There are other excellent loads, but that's my favorite combo.

Regards, Guy

From what I've been able to find out online about A&M, I'm in agreement that this rifle could be an early '60s product.

That's why I went with the 6mm Remmy instead of a .243 Win.... I wanted the bigger case capacity so I could use slower powders in that 24" barrel. Hope it works out.

Yes, there are a few of us 6mm Rem users here, with loads from 55 - 105+ grain bullets. You'll get some good feedback when you start handloading for it. Again, mighty good looking rifle!

My son uses his mostly as a varmint rifle anymore, though he did take a whitetail buck with it last fall. I used the same rifle mostly as a varmint rifle too.

While I prefer .25-06's etc. that is one fine looking rifle. Sounds like that 95 grain load will shoot too and frankly that is what matters most. Congrats on being someone who is more interested in accuracy than speed. You'll go through fewer barrels and your hearing will last longer that way.

I loaded some 90gr BT's and IMR3031 in my grammy's 6mm a couple years ago. It worked out real well! I still got a bunch of those 90gr'ers left too.

Here's the 6-284 on the Brno. Stamp on the barrel is 12-31-69. My grandpa hand carved the stock. My dad remembers the blank being delivered as a kid.

Your Grampa was a Wizard! That is some handsome rifle. You're a lucky man to have that passed down to you. How's the throat holding up in that barrel? I read that the 6-284 can be rough on barrels if loaded on the hot side.
