New build?

Looks like a small bonanza I wasn't counting on and it's new toy time.
I'm fairly well set (never say completely :lol: ) in 224, 243 and 257. Also have a 7 mag, 30 mag and a 9.3 on the way. (that ones because of you guys! :x )
Thinking of some kind of flat-liner but the drawing board is open.
I realize this is weak on details, but it just happened and I'm open to ideas.

The 9.3X62 is a skookum round, for sure. Since you're confining yourself to deer-size game (or perhaps up to caribou), one of the 6.5s will serve you well. Scotty is correct in pointing to the 264WM or similar cartridge. There is nothing wrong with a 6.5 Creedmoor or a 6.5-.284 Norma in that category. They will give you some reach and carry enough punch to drop a deer if you put the pill where it belongs.

It would be a lovely rifle, no doubt. Should I build another rifle next year, I may look hard at building either the 8X68 (which duplicates the 325WSM ballistically) or the 6.5X68, which would just be cool.

I guess I should say what I am building would definitely do the job 280AI . But a 6.5 X 284 is there as well.
The young smith here is building a 6.5 X 300 WSM :wink:
