these rifles that are being sold at DIcks and Sportsmans warehouse that are sps without a floorplate and externally adjustable trigger what calibers can you get them in?
I have bought SS ADLs in .270, '06, and a package deal with a 3-9 Remington scope in 7-08. I assume (you know what happens when you assume) that 7mm RemMag and .300 WinMag are included, but have never noticed one as I already have two 7s and a .300. As far as the .223/.22-250, it was explained to me that the idea was to get new deer/elk hunters in the sport, so no varmint calibers. Bummer. I wanted a couple of .223s for donors for a .222 and a .223 AI.
I walked into one of my local (well, local to my parents) gun shop yesterday, and what do I see? Why, it's a 700ADL in blued steel! What chambering? .270? Bummer. Well, a cheap donor is a cheap donor. I wish it would have been a SA, but that's fine. Looks like I'll be making a roadie to PacNor for something a little more interesting, maybe a .264, .284 or .338 tube.
What I should do is shoot it against my SS ADL .270, and keep the better shooter.
Interestingly, they also had a Sako L461 (?) in .300 Weatherby in what really looked like a McMillan Swirley,
All named have a lot to recommend them. It'll be interesting to see what your mood is like. Hmmm, "I'm feeling capable of taking on the world today, make it a 338-06." Or, "I'm feeling like I can finesse the most demanding need; make it a 6.5-06." I'm not certain about the 280 AI, as it will work from tough requirements to the need to finesse. Again, I don't believe you can go wrong with those options.
Yeah Mike, it'll be whatever I feel like, as I have no real need for any of them, with a .25-06 and a .257 Weatherby; two .270s; a 7-08, 7WSM, two 7 RemMags; an '06, .300 Savage, .300 WinMag, and .300 Weatherby; and a Whelen.
No kidding. I'm Amazed he can shoot those big boomers without developing a flinch!
I need to sit down and plan my future purchases. I've been just kind of bumping from buy to buy with no real direction. Priority #1 should be a compact .243 and/or 7-08 for Little Man (my kid), then a couple more varmint rifles, or maybe a .375 or .416. Of course, I have a couple of McMillans coming for Remington Mountain Rifles I don't yet own, so that needs to be addressed as well. And glass, lots and lots of glass.
