Looking for modern loading manual for hard cast lead bullets
im pretty resourceful guy & have looked very thoroughly through
normal channels
hornady & Speer both show minimum loads ( at least they included them)
Hodgdon 26 is now 30 yrs old
lee modern load data is reused old data mostly from 50’s & 60’s
Lyman cast is the most recent & by far best for recent data
but it’s 80% rifle data 20% handgun data
somebody has to know of a dedicated Revolver cast reloading data book
Like something Elmer kieth wrote for serious handgun reloaders with secret data …lol
any help will be very very appreciated
thanks

As far as Elmer goes... he mentions some loads in his books, many of them bragging on Alliant 2400 powder.

I remember them being mentioned in the books, but don't recall the powder charges... if you haven't read his books, doing so might give you something.

They're very good books.

Hello 7mmstw... what hand gun cartridges are you working with? Bullet weights. I load hard cast bullets for a few revolvers.. Alliant 2400 is a good powder for full house loads in .44mag and .357mag with gas check cast bullets.. for plain base bullets I usually use something like Unique for those.. I had Laser Cast send me some data out of there book.. it may be online now?

I have followed Elmer loads with 2400 …was all he had access & available to him way back then
we are spoiled with powder section in todays world
Elmer would be slobbering over 110/296
Myself I have veered away from the flash & bang provided with those
spectacular powders …
opting for N110 performance completely by accident & the powder shortages caused by Obama
never would have tried it had it not been available back then.
happy accident now …price sucks but quality wins
thanks RT

I don't shoot much cast....I do occasionally buy the cheap Hornady 158 SWC bullets to load in the 357's for target shooting... and with those I put just enough Titegroup powder in them to get them out the muzzle, lol.

Low recoil, low noise, economical.

I’m loading mostly 38/357 /44 special & mag
most of the hard cast I load is plinking
have several 158 & 175 swc kieth bullets to load for 357
165 GC. Kieth is a good looking trail slug
i am in search of modern DATA manuals for old cartridges
maybe I’m wrong ……but everything I read is old
I created my own data for universal out of necessity with 38 stuff
i have QUICK LOAD program ….but bullet selection is sketchy
company’s like buffalo bore & underwood …
have improved on the old data & used it to produce
spectacular hard cast ammo
thanks for help

On the 110/296....

Accurate 4100 and Ramshot Enforcer are every bit as good, as well as Accurate #9 in most applications.

You can get some serious horsepower out of those in magnum handguns.

The Western link I posted up there has some pretty warm 357 and 44 loads in it using cast.

For example, 300 grain 44 mag, at 1,350 fps from an 8 inch barrel.

That data was last updated in 2016
