Anyone have a good "SAFE" stiff load for the new vaquero. A lot of companies say on their ammo "Not for new ruger vaqueros" Because they are not made as heavy as the old style. Im trying to reach 400 LBS of energy at 50 yards. Anyone have any more info for my revolver?

OK....

the SAAMI limit for the 45 colt is 14000 psi, a limit safe for the older Colts.

If you stick to this standard you get this.

Bullet : .451, 250, Nosler JHP 43013
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 1.580 inch or 40.13 mm
Barrel Length : 5.5 inch or 139.7 mm
Powder : Hodgdon H110

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 2.0% of nominal charge.
CAUTION: Figures exceed maximum and minimum recommended loads !

Thank pop. I believe the first set of results are the ones that apply to my revolver. So..........If I understand this correctly, I can not achieve my 450 LBS at 50 yards safely.

To achieve 400 ft/lbs we need 900 fps mv so.....

All of the above said I do belive that Vaqueros can be loaded way hotter than these conservative #'s. Check with ruger and get me a max psi. I can help you further then..
