Picked up a new Savage Model 16 Weather Warrior in 7mm-08 last week. Cleaned and mounted the scope on it over the weekend, not sure when I'll start to break in the barrel, I'm gonna be bowhunting the next couple weekends.

Nice looking rifle. What are you going to load?

The 7mm-08 is proving to be a great cartridge, and Savage quality is certainly appreciated. As JD338 asks, what are you thinking of loading?

I'm gonna start out with 140 gr Ballistic Tips & Accubonds to start out with, I have some Gamekings I ran in my 280 for a while I might try also. I'm gonna get dies and brass ordered in the next couple weeks.

One hundred forty grain bullets should be just right for that rifle. Any of those will serve you well on quite a variety of game.

I've become a huge fan of the 7-08....I kinda wish I'd have discovered it sooner!

I agree- 140gr AB or BTs would work for about anything,

The 7mm-08 Is perfect for 95% of American hunting. It'll work great on elk and anything smaller.
Great choice!
Have fun with it!
