Woodlieghs are realy expensive ....

Not here in Australia. In all honesty the 358Win does not require a premium pill. 225gr Partitions sail through broadside on our slightly smaller than elk sized Sambar deer with minimal expansion unless major bones are struck. The 200gr Hornady SP is a surprise package in performance and cost. Likewsie when they were cheaper and more readily available, the 200gr CoreLokt. The 225gr Woodleigh PP is also a hard pill ... if you can get over the 'old technology' the Woodleigh 225gr RN is faster opening and holds weight brilliantly.

I like Woodleighs a lot; they are an excellent bullet. Availability and cost are problematic here in Canada. Nevertheless, I do have a small supply of Woodleigh bullets in various calibres and configurations. I do parcel them out sparingly, reserving them for special efforts.

As long as we're discussing various .35 caliber bullets, does anyone have an idea who made 150 gr. SpirePoint bullets in .35 caliber? I bought them quite a few years ago to try in a .358 Win. and never got around to loading them. In fact, I completely forgot I had them at all until doing a bit of house cleadning out in my reloading shed.
Some, this sticks in my head that they might have been made fpr the .350 Rem. :?: For some silly reason, I seem to recall that when it first came out there were three loads, 150, 200 and 250 gr. bullet loads for the .350 Rem. But I have to admit that sometimes, my poor old memory banks falter a bit but anyway, that's what I seem to recall. I came across them at a gun show shortly after I'd bought my first Ruger M77 in .358 Win. Seems I read an article by Paco Kelly who thought those light bullets were a good idea.
Right now my go to bullet fo the Whelen is the Barnes 225 gr. TSX. I was quite impressed on how it put a cow elk down that was spooked and runnling like hell. I'll be doing some playing with the 250 gr. Speer and Hornady bullets to see just what they will do althpugh I'll most likely stay with the 225 gr. TSX.

Remington made a .358 150 grain PSP CoreLokt bullet. I assume it is still made and marketed.
