Indeed, he does appear to be a nice one. I'm always intrigued at how casual mule deer can be about coming into towns. I opened up our church building on Christmas morning, and a small herd of mule deer had been walking across the parking lot. I've found their tracks down by our bank on occasion. They seem to know they are relatively safe.
Nice picture and thanks for sharing.
For a few years I had a very nice White Tail buck that would bed down in the fence row about 50yds behind my house during rifle season. They do know where it is safe to hang out.
I love seeing deer in town. But they are hell on the rose bushes! While leaving one morning to go hunting, my daughter and I saw the largest Blacktail buck I'd seen in years standing in my neighbors driveway. Unfortunately that was the only buck we saw the entire season.
I haven't seen many Mule deer here in Regina but we do have Moose a couple of times per month show up in our city.
In my front yard my wife feeds the birds during the winter along with a couple of tree rats .
The other good benefit of my wife's feeding program is we have a covey (15 or16) of Huns (Hungarian Partridge) that spend a great deal of time in our front yard during the winter .
Thank you for the photo & post.
